A. [phone post]

I know there is potato salad, but I was wondering if there were any other ways to creatively prepare potatoes for a meal. One cannot live on potato salad alone, I am afraid.

B. [action at Mayfield elementary school]

[Mr. Undersn is brooding. Again. Bother him? y/y]

[If you could hear his eyes narrowing through the phone, you'd be hearing that sound right now.]

... nothing Japanese.

... Korokke. Croquettes. It's French.

Then call them what they are and do not use that name.

Baked potatoes. Mashed potatoes. Man, the options for potatoes are pretty unlimited.

But those are only two, that seems limited. [Teasing? Yeah. That's a little weird from him.]

I'm not really a potato person myself. Those were just the two that popped into my head.

[He sounds amused. How rare.]

Then perhaps unlimited was poor word choice.

Turn 'em into french fries.

With how prevalent they are here, I would not need to do the work myself.

What about potato pancakes? Those sound like they would be good. Though I've always wondered, do you still use syrup with them? Or do you use something like ketchup? Maybe hot sauce like an omelet. Though I'm not really a fan of hot sauce on omelets.

[...What was this guy going on about.]

You can put what you like on top of them. Savoury as well as sweet toppings are acceptable.

Seriously!? Wah... what an amazing dish! That surly wouldn't work with pancakes or waffles.

If the batter lacked sweetness, it would work fine...Though I will not downplay the excellence and versatility of potatoes.

You peel potatoes, cut them up, put them in pot with water meats and vegetables and make stew.

Or, you poke holes and put potato in oven and cook for while. Then cut it open and put things on top of both halves.

Hm, I had not thought of roasting them. I prefer potato soup to any sort of stew, though.

You can also put them in hot oils after slicing them to fry them.

Potatoes are very useful, I see why Irish like them so.

They are versatile and full of nutrients, as well as being easy to grow in most soils. It would make sense that a culture would attach to them.
