bring on the bagpipers!

Wonderful disturbing article yesterday in the LA Times about the @#$@%$%#@!Fred Phelps, extreme Christian fundamentalist baptist, who took his band of rabid, frothing at the mouth, followers to protest gays along a street where a funeral for a soldier was being held in a small town. The soldier was not gay, there was no connection it seems, it was ( Read more... )

Phelps' group believe that 9/11 happened because of the sins of a nation that allows gay people rights apparantly. *eye roll*

Arg, that's like the guy who was trying to blame 9/11 on Pagans. I hope someone threw a shoe at Phelps' fundie head. I know I would've. Whoo for the bagpipers, though! Hehe. ^-^

this Phelps guy was notorious in Minneapolis (a very gay friendly city) when I lived there, as he and his group of morons would travel up to the U of MN to rant (they called it preaching) on the campus green.

like anyone listened to them! he's full of hate, it's so sad, apparantly he's been disbarred from the Bar association and all sorts of other failed things. I think he's from Oklahoma?

Kansas. Home of Timothy McVeigh and a schoolboard which requires "intelligent design" be the taught to children. As much as people hate California, it's pretty clear that Kansas is the state with no redeeming qualities.

Kansas! of course, should have remembered that.. I have some family members who live in a Catholic sort of cult (their bishop was excommunicated! by JPII) in the heart of Kansas.

yeah, I have mostly learned to shrug off the ignorant "lose morals" jabs at California, as obviously those folks haven't toured the central valley or parts of San Diego at all!

I don't expect Fred Phelps to come to Canada anytime soon, for Parliament passed the gay marriage bill last night. He probably wouldn't like Belgium or the Netherlands either...

ooh, good icon for it,

Your border guards probably wouldn't let him past if they knew who he was.

really, he's more of a annoying terrorist/harrassment expert than preacher

the bagpiper I know has a good sense of humor, you'd have to in order to endure the endurance training to play those things. :)

I know! In Edinburgh there are street bagpipers who stand on a corner and just play and play forever. . . it's incredible.

Love those ratings. That just encapsulates the whole attitude towards inappropriate things on film.

Also, hello! How are you?

yeah, there's some other gems like this one, I'll add it to my entry ;)

thanks for asking: things are ok, drumming my fingers over waiting to hear back from job apps and dragging my feet on stuff I should get done in the meantime. Trying to think of ways to cheer up my mother when I visit her for the holiday this weekend.

WOOT! GO BOSTON'S FINEST! I personally believe there is a special litle corner in hell awaiting people like Phelps. Personally I hope it is run by Oscar Wilde and Matthew Shepherd who can come down from on high and give the bastard the daily ass kicking he so richly deserves.

"War of the Worlds" is rated PG-13. Much of the earth's population is wiped out, leaving very little time for sex or bad language.

LOL...doesn't leave much time for scientologists with agendas either. Wonder what good old Tom thinks about that.

definitely an excellent tactic on the part of the community and the police force bagpipers!

daily ass kicking I'm thinking of something much much worse, and as he believes in a literal hell, but then I'm not a violent person, *calm deep breaths* ;)

right, no time for agendas, except on talk shows *eye roll*
