bring on the bagpipers!

Wonderful disturbing article yesterday in the LA Times about the @#$@%$%#@!Fred Phelps, extreme Christian fundamentalist baptist, who took his band of rabid, frothing at the mouth, followers to protest gays along a street where a funeral for a soldier was being held in a small town. The soldier was not gay, there was no connection it seems, it was just being held in Massachuesettes, a state of sinners for allowing gay marriage. Phelps' group believe that 9/11 happened because of the sins of a nation that allows gay people rights apparantly. *eye roll* (on a look around, apparently there's more of a self-centered connection)

SO! the 14 member strong Boston police force Bagpipers band showed up and whenever Phelps' group started to rant over their megaphone, the Bagpipers drowned them out. WHOOO!!! that's what I call non-violent tactics.

completely unrelated movie news: I love the "ratings" that the Times assigns movies:
"War of the Worlds" is rated PG-13. Much of the earth's population is wiped out, leaving very little time for sex or bad language.
"Bewitched" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). The film is pretty tame, though as is his onscreen wont, Mr. Ferrell does go partly bare for one scene.
"George A. Romero's Land of the Dead" is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). It has extremely intense zombie violence with the usual buckets of blood.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is rated PG (Parental guidance suggested). It has gentle scares, fantastical monsters and some zap gun action.
