There's nothing like encouragement--and this is nothing like encouragement.

One of the many expenses and reasons why I work is that public school is just not an option here in Capitol City. The latest report just came in last week, and something like 50 to 60 percent of the schools in Louisiana are still below standards. They've all improved, is the scary thing. They're better than they were, but they're still ( Read more... )

As for the socialisation thing... Danae has many out of school activities, and is far too involved in the church life from what you've said, for that to be a real issue. As long as there is varied peer-contact, it doesn't really matter whether that comes in a "traditional" school environment or not ( ... )

There are programs that you can use for homeschooling.

That said, I'm very anti-homeschooling because of my experience with poorly homeschooled children. I could pick out the homeschoolers in my Sunday School classes because of their poor behavioral skills :( However, that is more a reflection on the parents than on the children. That you're even concerned about it is a HUGE difference than what I saw from these parents.

I say, good for you just for considering it. I'm sure you know I am ardently in favor of homeschooling, though of course it's not right for every family. Mr. T was being totally jerky; the hell? And the people in the Fellowship group could not be more wrong. I never went to school with even one kid who had any clue how to behave in public.

You cussed!

You should talk to Sunny. I think she is or is going to homeschool one of the monkeys.

Home schooling is a personal choice and if you(and MrT) decide to go with it and you have weighed up the pros and cons and the pros win, then really no one elses opinion should be have influence over that decision.

Talk to people who ARE home schooling now, or have recently gone with that option to get a better veiw point. Many people make there judgement on the stereotype that is put out there. I know plenty of people who were home schooled and they turned out fine, I even have taken it on board as an option when I eventually have kids.
