Many thanks to each of you who made comments on the mockup (which was friends-locked for obvious reasons). As it turns out, Barry was right that the spirals were watermarks on the image and not part of the 'real thing'. I sent everyone's comments to the publisher/artist because those of you who commented all had helpful things to say. I was

I did like the original blue. The second mockup drained almost all of the colour out, so it looked B&W. I was glad when she added the blue back in for the third mockup, and I think the new shade is even better. Makes the first mockup look garish, even though I like it.

Has been ages since I've seen you properly. Matthew is no longer a baby suckling on my breast and stopping the game! He's tall like Nick, turns 4 next month, then starts school in September. Anyway, Nick got me a Kindle from my birthday (I hit 40 (with a big stick!)) so I'll be keeping an eye out for it. I did think about getting DragonSpawn for it, but I've got them on the shelf and you can't sign a Kindle!!!
