So, I was on call for Federal jury duty for the last 2 weeks. I had to start calling on Sunday the 23rd. I was called down on the 24th and since it was Federal, it was an hour and a half trip by public transportation to downtown Brooklyn. I was only called down one day because it was before the holiday weekend. Tuesday I didn't have to go in but

Yay for having a good birthday! We can opt out of jury duty at 70 here - I’ve never been called so I’m hoping I don’t have to do it for the next 8 years ….! 🤞🏻

It's the same here, at 70 you can opt out. Up until Wednesday, I didn't qualify to opt out. On Thursday I was eligible to opt out and the court clerk dismissed me. I was very grateful I didn't have to spend my birthday in court.

You too? In the last few weeks my husband, myself, a coworker and three friends all have jury duty. I wonder if they're trying to make up for covid-delayed trials now? Seems like a lot at once. Mine starts in a couple weeks.

And use the age card whenever you can My father's mother believed that you never tell anyone your age and whenever you can lie about your age. I don't lie about my age but I try my best to avoid admitting how old I am.

You've worked for it. True but if you've been brainwashed most of your life to not admit your age, it's a hard habit to break.

I have been on 2 actual jury cases and have enjoyed the experience. I wouldn't have minded being on a jury this time except it was an hour and a half ride to get there.

and suspicious Well how do they get names for jury duty in the UK? Here they use driver's license and learner's permit but they used to use the voting polls.
