How does that happen?? I have a lot of chocolate around the house right now, including a couple of chocolate "sausages" that the girl made this afternoon--if you were closer I'd share!
It's basically chocolate with crushed Lu cookies inside it (or a similar cookie, if you can't find those--we used the "Petit Ecolier" cookies and they were quite tasty), plus our recipe also has nuts and caramel in it... You melt/mix everything together then roll it up in waxed paper and chill it until it's hard. Then you coat the outside in powdered sugar, cut it into slices and trick all your friends... (Or, alternatively, eat it all by yourself, which would be my m.o. *g*)
Here are the ingredients for our recipe (in French measurements--sorry!):
14 Véritable Petit Beurre cookies (crushed) 100 g dark chocolate 75 g softened butter 100 g powdered sugar 2 tbsp-ish caramel sauce 120 g toasted slivered/chopped almonds (we used walnuts--also delish; didn't toast them) powdered sugar to coat the outside (you can mix cocoa powder in, too)
Mix butter and sugar. Add melted chocolate. Add all the other stuff, ending with cookies, etc.
But why is the chocolate gone? ;) Story of my life. I try to buy FT chocolate as much as possible but Cadbury Mini Eggs were on sale after Easter and I am not made of stone...
That's a pretty impressive-sounding leftovers meal, I have to say. It is truly sad how many of mine have consisted of pure junk food these days.
Also, that recipe for chocolate sausage sounds amazing.
Yes, exactly! I did find myself saying this once or twice last night. :)
My biggest non-FT weakness: miniature Reese's peanut butter cups. I love those.
As for dinner: I had to stock my cabinet with some foods that didn't require much cooking but could still pass for proper dinner, because otherwise I wind up eating frozen dinners and cereal. That's probably what will happen later this week (dissertation crunch time!).
I kind of like having cereal for dinner - when I've decided it's a breakfast-for-dinner night, not just because I've failed to buy groceries or am too tired to make anything else.
