So, I'm up before 5:00 AM because I woke up at 2:00 AM and haven't been able to go back to sleep. That's a whole 2 hours. When I crash, it's not going to be pretty ( Read more... )

Eeek, know that feeling. The story is so good, it's just the words I come up with get in the way...

It's like I don't have enough cpu time available to run the graphics program *and* the word processor at the same time, so I can't look at the image while I translate it into words.

This is the perfect analogy of writer's block, at least the one I go through more often than not. I think I need to give my personal cpu a good, thorough scrubbing!

Good luck with your writing!!!

Okay, so I couldn't get to sleep at all, and then the dog demanded to go out at 2 a.m. and then she ran off and then I was pissed and wide awake, so I checked my email and stared at a NCIS story that I really Want to Finish but gahhhhhhhh!!!!

Oh, the crash is on the way.

Our brains, they hate us.

My writing of late has been more like one of those old country roads with all the twists and turns and occasional rough spots... and then I get to the river and discover that the old bridge collapsed several years ago and the state hasn't gotten around to replacing it yet. I can see the road on ahead, but I just can't get there!

Sometimes you just have to leave the car and forge ahead on foot. Pain the ass, though.

Yup, happens to me, too. I know what I want it to be, what I want it to look like, but I just can't write it. So frustrating!

I know I should just move on to the next thing and come back to those images another time, but it's so easy to get stuck on them.

It is. Especially when this is what you want to be working on right now, even though it's not working. It becomes an endless loop.
