Insomnia and images and words, oh, my!

Mar 04, 2010 04:51

So, I'm up before 5:00 AM because I woke up at 2:00 AM and haven't been able to go back to sleep. That's a whole 2 hours. When I crash, it's not going to be pretty ( Read more... )

That may be the best writer's block description I've ever seen. Of course, I'm a total computer geek so it's not surprising it would resonate...

I noticed the health tag... is that for the insomnia or the "CPU" issues?

Because my post a few days ago? When I was talking about my mind as a modem with lights blinking as it searches for a signal, or an eggtimer ceaselessly spinning on the desktop? Was *all* about my health problems getting in the way of good mental processing and things like words, grammar and syntax. And writer's block comments don't really help when that's the case. :(

On the other hand, the fatigue/insomnia issues could be feeding into the problem with running several programs at once... ("Try again when you've had a good night's sleep," probably *also* isn't helpful, though.)

Is the fic NCIS or SG-1? Can I help at all?

Would it work to break the image down into components? Smaller image files, so at each pass you are only looking at one layer of the composite: "I'm not going to describe the scene, just the quality of light... now, just the background, etc"?

Good luck. Let me know if I can do anything other than send wordy vibes your way.

Thanks, hon.

Yeah, the health tag is due to the insomnia. And I figured a string of good nights' sleep will likely work *wonders*, but that's not likely to happen any time soon. ;-) The kid's going to her dad's for Spring Break and I'm off, so I plan on sleeping whenever the body's willing. I won't have to worry about another person coming and going and NEEDING. :-)

It's such a pain. Someone else in here suggested trying to break the image down and hitting it in pieces, which is *great* advice, but that's not working either, sadly.

Under the right conditions, though, it *could* open the floodgates, but yeah, it does mess with the gestalt.
