Life has gotten bothersome. Nothing major, just haven't felt much like journaling. But, I'm sitting here on a Saturday afternoon and thought I'd catch up here
( Read more... )
Hope you feel better soon. It makes me sad about your kitties, I hate it when people abuse and then dump animals... it just breaks my heart. I'm glad there's people like you who are willing to take them in and find them homes.
People who abuse an animal's trust should be taken out and shot. Okay, that might be a tad extreme, but it takes a special sort of sick fuck to treat a pet like that. How little empathy do you have to have to be able to dump an animal you've taken into your home and taught to trust you?
It's a terrible shame about the momma kitty being abused like that. The ebil overlord of the Monster Household (Thomas, a ten year old grey tabby) may drive us up the wall but neither I or anyone else in my family could purposefully *hurt* him.
I've got some feelers out. It would be *very* nice if someone would take them all and either keep them or find them homes on their own. Love to have them go before the babies leave the "den" (big ol' box o'kittens :-).
I highly recommend walking. It helps me sort out my head.
People used to see cats in our neighborhood and dump more. My parents couldn't take them in because my brother was allergic, but they fed alley cats (okay, my mom fed them, my dad eventually gave in), and sometimes we ended up with whole litters of kittens that would try to run into the house because they must have been used to a house. That made me angry. We couldn't really take care of them, and once there were so many my Dad rounded up the kittens and took them to the Humane Society, where he hoped they'd get good homes. When my brother moved out, they took in the last two alley cats still living and finally got a vet for them, too. (Oddly, I was just saying this to or_mabinogi.)
I hope you feel better soon! I've been having trouble sleeping at night and then I try to snatch naps some days. It doesn't work well on school days. Allergens here have been terrible, and I think that's part of my problem. Might it be yours?
I don't have any allergies. I almost wish I did. I would have done the shots years ago. No, I have something called "particulate sensitivity". In short, "allergies" without the ability to desensitize. Doesn't matter what the pollen, spore or dust *is*, just the particulate is enough to send my sinuses into overdrive. *sigh*
On the other hand, after I did fifteen years of the shots, the doctor told me this would probably be as good as I get. You're right to almost wish you had allergies. I can't remember if my mother is still getting her shots; she went for thirty years, and I did try to convince her it was pointless after the first twenty-five or so, but she insisted she felt some benefit.
Texas is not a good place to be with particulate sensitivity! Are there even any good drugs for that? I at least have my pseudosudafed for the daytime and generic benadryl at night.
It's still a histamine reaction, so allergy meds do the trick. We've got a front coming through early next week and that should help a great deal. If I vacuumed once in a while it might help, too. :-)
