Meet Wally

Walter Philip Durian, or Wally for short.  He grew from a durian seed I took home (submerged in ice to kill the smell) after an exotic fruit feast at Readercon 2011.  I'm going to re-pot him tomorrow, as he's grown a lot and acquired another leaf in the month since I took this photo.  He is a fine, strong young tropical plant, and I hope to help ( Read more... )

Inorite?! The one downside is that I don't think they bear fruit without other durian trees and tropical conditions; but I'm very happy just to have the seedling.

With very little help. Back in August, a raccoon or something dragged this and the jackfruit seedlings out of their pots and ate the jackfruit. It wouldn't touch the durian, funny about that.
