Did you all know there's a colossal metal statue outside of Gateshead-on-Tyne in England called The Angel of the North? I didn't know that till just now. Chris Lackey from the H.P. Walter Philip Durian, or Wally for short.  He grew from a durian seed I took home (submerged in ice to kill the smell) after an exotic fruit feast at Readercon 2011.  I'm going to re-pot him tomorrow, as he's grown a lot and acquired another leaf in the month since I took this photo.  He is a fine, strong young tropical plant, and I hope to help ( Read more... )
