now please don't ask why, no one quite knows the reason

Five days to Christmas and my Christmas spirit is...yeah, just about nil.

I don't even know why. I love Christmas, I love the tree and the songs* and the snow. *glances out window at bare ground* Well, the tree and the songs* and the finding-of-the-perfect-gifts-for-people.

Maybe that's my problem: I have done no shopping whatsoever. The only gifts I ( Read more... )

christmas, mindless consumerism

The lack of Christmas spirit seems to be going around, I have none and the same with a few other friends too.

However! Maybe these will help.

Link - This is giving me ideas. Not sure if the neighbours would like it but since I'm a Sith Lord that just tempts me further ;)

*And by songs, I mean the classic ones. Mostly the religious ones, because they're the prettiest. I do not mean the wtf-is-this-who-the-hell-put-the-hip-hop-backbeat-under-the-waltz-of-the-sugar-plum-fairies songs.

Well finally someone who thinks like me :D

Christmas this year will be kind of odd - new locations, new plans, less relatives who drop by - but I'm very, very determined to make it good. The past years Christmas has been more or less lacking any sprit for me, but after last year was spent in Japan with no "real" Christmas, this year I am madly excited about the holidays.

The best part is that I only need gifts for my parents (check), my hubby (check), my brother (check), my grandmother (check), my godchild (check), her sister and my mother in law.

All the rest will get cookies and hand-made jam and candied blossoms and that must be enough. HAH.

Now, that is awesome. XD I mean, that would be more than enough for my people--provided, you know, that I could bake/preserve/candy things. Alas, I cannot!

I am, however, in better spirits now--one of the stores was playing the Judy Garland version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," which is the only version I acknowledge as real. ;)

Take a cattle prod. SERIOUSLY.

Yep, me too. My beliefs were cemented after hearing a heavy metal version of The Little Drummer Boy.

Here, try this - it's my favourite Christmas carol, even if it's one of the traditional ones...

That was HILARIOUS. I wish I had cousins young enough to teach that song to. XD

A cattle prod would have been far too much temptation. Not for the shoppers, necessarily, but for those damned pushy kiosk people. When I say I don't want to try your lotion, that is not a cue to encroach on my personal space and repeat the question. *zaps*

Can you tell them you have leprosy or some other high infectious disease? (Leprosy is impressive, of course, but if you see the same sales reps often they might start to ask why your limbs haven't fallen off.)

Lol, I'll just take a bell with me next time. "UNCLEAN! UNCLEAN!" It'll be fun. XD
