All alone in this world without no one beside me~ [OTA]

The less furious shaking of the jeep finally suggested that it was slowing down and they were either taking a pit stop or they were finally at the base. The total halt of movement and the screech of a handbrake told him where ever they were, they could be here a while. But the soldiers next to him started to move out so maybe they were at the base ( Read more... )

And the someone who was going to show Scott around happened to be Adrian at that exact moment in time. He'd just walked out of the main building and was zipping up a hoodie as he took light, gravity infused steps to get him to the reception area quick enough. He had gotten a little carried away drinking coffee and forgot to leave the mess hall on time.

He sees the obviously new arrival standing a little awkwardly on the grounds and makes his way even quicker towards him. He stops dead in front of the other guy and shuffles slightly making sure he's properly grounded before he reaches out to offer a hand to the other man.. no sense in suddenly giving him a light-headed feeling.

"Hey, I'm Adrian!" He totally hasn't noticed the lack of sight. "I'm here to help you out and show you the ropes."

The crunch of the gravel around him was what alerted him that someone was near. From the fact it was towards him, Scott guessed it must be the elusive guide who was mention passingly by the soldier minutes ago. Though it hadn't been long, being blind and out of the reach of anything but the ground had made the short minutes seem a lot longer. And when Adrian spoke, Scott didn't at all better.

Just off voice alone, Scott figured whoever his guide was, they were young and were male. Judging from where his voice was coming from, he wasn't short either. But from just sound that was all he could guess about the man/boy before him. This was going to be one fun guessing game.

"Hi Adrian, I'm Scott. Nice to meet you and I'm glad that someone decided to turn up, eventually. And now that we've finished exchanging pleasantries, could you tell me where I am?"

The smile which had been on Adrian's face drops off and is exchanged with the subtle pursing of his lips, he hadn't expected to be late but time-keeping wasn't on top of his list of abilities at the moment. "My apologies, I guess I lost track of time." He spreads his arms around himself.

"Welcome to Fort Wenachee, your new home away from home." He notices the closed eyes, this time. "You'd probably experience it better if you opened your eyes and took a look around."

He does however take the closed eyes as an opportunity to give this new-comer the once-over with his eyes, probably channelling a bit too much of Ric's mentor-ship.

Scott remained neutral at Adrian apology, not showing any sort of outwards reaction. Mainly because he was tired and he just wanted the whole experience to be over and done with. He wanted to be alone to re-group his thoughts and figure out what to do next. But since he was going to live at this base, he figured that he might as well get to know the layout. It might be useful. And it didn't hurt to get his only source of assistance a little more agreeable to him.

Though he was annoyed, tired and generally in a crap mood from being stuck in another universe that differed from his own, he took a deep breath and tried to play nice. "Looks great. Now if someone can just turn the lights on, I'm sure it would look better. Hmph, trust me when I say that you don't want me to open my eyes. Unless you have a death wish."

Running into people was sort of a knack of Wade's. He made a point to run into people, especially those that he found would be interesting. As it so happened the mercenary was making his final lap around the base--as per his own personal suggestion to get a few things off his mind--he caught the entry jeep into the compound. These new recruits were coming in bundles now. Maybe next month they would get a giant FedEx package full of them. It certainly wouldn't surprise Wade.

What made him stop was the fact that the man who stepped from the jeep had his eyes closed. Where most would find this 'peculiar', Wade found this interesting. The odd and abnormal were always open doors to new opportunities ( ... )

Eyes still firmly closed, Scott listened for any sound of movement approaching him. He didn't feel like being caught surprised but he didn't hear Wade till he was a lot closer than he would have liked. He didn't like how he only noticed Wade when he decided to talk so Scott went in a defensive pose, not sure how to respond to a possible threat he couldn't see. This universe was foreign and there were loads of people he didn't know or they didn't know him. So many that he made it a point to be suspicious of almost everyone.

Still in a defensive posture, Scott spoke, warily. "No, just protecting them from harm. No need to scar them by looking right at your face. I don't feel like ruining my eyes today."

Even as he was saying it, he concentrated to hear exactly where Wade was standing. He didn't want this newcomer catching him by surprise. Not when he was 'missing' a sense.

Ooooo, sassy. This would be more fun than he'd thought! That even earned him a chuckle, the mercenary continuing to walk slowly around him. Maybe it was because he didn't like to sit still, or maybe it was because he knew it was making Scott uneasy. "So you can't then. Ain't that a bitch."

Poor Scott would learn sooner or later that teasing with Wade only fulled him further. But honestly, what didn't?

"It must be something fun if you're here. I doubt Emma would bring in a blind man, so that can't be it." Yes, he was also five years old in the sense that he had to figure out what made Scott tick. He wasn't blind, and he wasn't psychic or else he would have known where Wade was. Whatever power he held, it was in his eyes.

One hand curled into a fist, whoever this guy was he was getting on Scott's rather frail nerves. Scott dared not to move any further but he tensed, coiling like a spring ready to attack at a moment's notice. He was finding himself dislike the man more and more.

The comment about his eyes just pissed him off but he still remain still, trying to stop him from punching the man. He didn't know what the powers of the man was. Scott wasn't stupid enough to get in a fight with someone he was at a clear disadvantage to. But at this rate, he just might forgo sensibilities.

"Don't you have anything better to do? Or is the leash they keep you on too short to go anywhere else?" Scott unfortunately hadn't quite figured out that teasing Wade got him no where.

Since she had a habit of getting through her monthly tax paperwork in her diamond form -mostly to stave off the headache, Emma hadn't been aware of Scott's arrival until she slipped out of the diamond form and was finally greeted with a rather impatient psyche just on the edge of her scans. Whoops.

The fact that she also had to head over to the research centre to grab the prototype for the new mutant probably didn't help matters either, but she had a hope -maybe an inkling, that someone else would approach Scott before then.

Usually it was impossible not to have those meetings.

With the visor in hand, Emma located Scott with a quick check before crossing the grounds to meet him. "I do hope you've not been waiting long, Mr Summers."

Yes, Scott had been slightly annoyed about waiting for a while unguarded. And rather vulnerable in the middle of the base for anyone to attack but he composed himself. It was Frost and he had a hunch that she wasn't just another mutant on base. No need to make a enemy so early on, since at the moment it seemed like he might be here a while. And to survive in this, different dimension he might need all the allies he could get.

So he quite calmly spoke, face devoid of any real emotions. He trusted she had the class not to read people's mind when talking to them. It was too him common decency but he steel his mind the best he could just in case. He wasn't naive and knew that not all telepaths were like the Professor and Jean.

"Not at all. I was just enjoying the weather, Miss Frost. I only hope that I'm not imposing on your time. You sound like a busy woman." Scott made it rather clear that he still was iffy about calling her Miss Frost. It just made him like he was a student all over again.

"Never too busy dear," which was a bit of a lie, because most of the time she was utterly swamped with far too much to do and it made her head want to explode. Running a group of children was easier than running this group of adults.

"I do apologise for your wait, but I did have a stop off to make, a welcome gift, if you will." Careful with just how close she got, Emma took the edges of the visors, and began to place them over Scott's eyes, explaining what she was doing as she was doing it to avoid startling him. "We can't have you blind and without controlled access to your powers, naturally, so I took the liberty of having a prototype visor made for you. There are still a few tests to be done, mostly seeing just how much power it can handle, so I'd advise not pushing it unless in a safe environment, but it is being refined as we speak."

With the visor slotted over his face, Emma took a few steps back, eyebrow raised as she shifted into her diamond form, just in case. "Best open your eyes and see that it works."

Some deep, deep part of him nearly whooped in delight at the fact he was going to be able to see again. Being deprived of his vision was something he never wanted a repeat of. Scott lived off being precise and knowing all there was to know and being deprived of it had nearly driven him up the wall. Just by supplying him with a simple visor, Emma had won his favour.

Keep his eyes closed, Scott held deathly still whilst trying not to flinch at the unseen contact. He expected it but he didn't like it at all, though the prospect of visor did cheer his spirits abit.

Once it was on, waited for her to move away. Only then did he slowly open his eyes. He peeked out and to his joy, they didn't break and there were no demolished buildings ahead which meant they worked. The tension just eased out of his body as he was able to see again.

"Thank you, Miss Frost. I think I owe you now."

No. It couldn't be. It couldn't be but it was. Scott Summers himself blindly climbing out of the jeep. For whatever reason he didn't have his visor which meant he couldn't open his eyes and the guard was just going to leave him there. Tsk tsk. The soldier really should have known better with this crowd. How could she not mess with him a little bit ( ... )

Scott, though he had been straining his ears to hear for anyone's approach, failed to hear Betsy creep up towards him. He was blissfully unaware of her until he heard her voice whisper in his ears. Startled wouldn't describe his reaction to her but he managed to force himself to remain calm so he wouldn't start his experience here with a bang.

Well that was what he was hoping for. But at the rate her hands were sliding and caressing his chest, he might just have to hurt her. A bit. Not knowing who she is, for starters, meant he didn't appreciate her 'actions' at all.

Rather than standing there and letting her continue Scott, though he was at a disadvantage, lashed out blindly behind him. Trying to push her away from him. The fact that she also managed to sneak up behind unnoticed unsettled him as well. He was not in the mood to be taunted or messed with.

And Betsy was being a master at doing just that.

Given that she was right up on his back it was just a bad spot to try and fight her. He was mostly flailing and every now and again connecting with an elbow. Betsy laughed after about 30 seconds and slid into the truck backwards. All that goofing around with free running and parkour made it easy for her to slide through the cab and fluidly navigate out the driver's side window up onto the roof of the truck ( ... )
