Being seventeen again sucks. [OTA, MASSIVE NUDGE to the ferals (Vic, Logan, Laura, Nicky)]

Dec 03, 2009 21:29

He wasn't liking the whole being younger thing. The hormones were enough to kill a man when he wasn't a teenager again. At least the first go-round, he'd assumed he'd always be like that and kept it under wraps. And he was around other seventeen year olds. Now, he was around a crapload of small children and women who felt skeezy when he flirted ( Read more... )

Laura followed the sounds of the guitar, head tilting slightly. She recognized it as a guitar but...not Esme's or the one belonging to Atticus. Who else owned such an instrument around here?

Head tilting slightly, she made her way to the rec room, sniffing the air as she went. A new person. Huh.

She peeked into the rec room to assess the situation, unsure. Would it really be worth it to introduce herself to a new face when she wasn't....herself?

Brian was sprawled on the couch and had an easy view of the door. When the girl poked her head in, he smiled. The heel of his hand stopped the strings vibration and he sat up a little.

"Hey there," he said in a friendly voice. "How's it going?"

She just watched. Laura, at any age, didn't really say much. It was worse when she was younger and it was almost as though she'd regressed to that point in her life again. She watched the guy a moment, intent on just turning and walking out but Jamie and Esme were playing tag in the hall and somehow that was more uncomfortable than being in the room with someone she didn't know.

She stepped in, stepping away from the door. "You are new."

"I am new," he replied with a smile. "I arrived like... two weeks ago, I think? Before all this happened." He motioned to himself, then to her. He was assuming she wasn't the same age she appeared, but he could be wrong.

Mutants did seem to be getting younger and younger when their mutation appeared.

"You aren't actually a little kid normally, right?" He raised a brow and grinned. "I'm Brian." He stuck a hand out, still huge since he was still 6'4".

It was annoying, that's what it was. Victor got irritated enough having to listen to Esme's strumming sometimes, and it didn't please him at all to realise that there was another guitar player kicking around the place now. At least, he assumed it was a different one; the pitch sounded a little different from Esme's instrument. He wasn't a big fan of music, but his sensitive hearing could pick up the change in tone from the guitar Esme normally used.

Following the sound, Victor headed for the Rec Room, wandering in to find a young man sitting there plucking at the strings. He didn't recognise him by sight, and his scent was unfamiliar; perhaps it was one of the older team members who'd been affected by Martini's hissy-fit? That, or another new member he hadn't met yet. Either way, he wanted the aimless plinking to stop. It was clear from the look on his face that he wasn't enjoying the impromptu performance.

"You done yet? 'Cause if you're not, I'll be done for you."

Brian plucked at the bass a few more times, wrinkling his nose at the tune of it. He was midway through adjusting the pitch of the E string until it sounded low enough. He played a little, happier with the sound, until a voice interrupted.

Well, that was rude.

"Wasn't aware I was bugging anyone. Sorry." He clapped his hand over the strings to silence them, and looked back to the man who'd walked in. "That better?"

Victor raised his eyebrow at the younger man, somewhat surprised. He wasn't used to people just doing what he said, let alone apologising for it. They usually put up some kind of protest, most of the time about his attitude, whereas this guy had practically rolled over to please him. He almost laughed at that. What a fucking pussy.

"You're never gonna match Cash so don't even bother."

That was the reply, and the extent of Victor's music critique for now. Goddamn kids.

"Ah, yes. Well, Cash was a master, but he didn't play bass." Brian indicated the instrument in his lap. It didn't matter much though; the man did have a point.

"Which Cash song is your favorite? I like the entire Folsom Prison Blues stage of his career, but Ring of Fire is probably my favorite song." He grinned at the man, absent-mindedly thumbing along the E string of the bass. It made a muffled low groan that he didn't even hear.

Olivia had grabbed a bottle of water and made her way down to the rec room to read for a bit. Reading had helped her calm down a little, helped her sleep better. It definitely helped her to relax when it came time to meditate.

She used her arm to nudge open the door and she slipped in, glancing over as she saw a young man playing the guitar. She didn't recognize him, but then...nearly everyone was different. She gave him a brief smile and curled up into a seat, opening the water bottle.

Brian was playing with his eyes closed. He was glad his brain hadn't been affected by whatever the hell was going on, so he still knew how to play. His fingers were a little clumsier though, since he'd just started playing bass when he'd turned 16 previously, so none of the small muscles were properly built up. He was playing the bassline from on of his bands songs, and it made him a little homesick.

He changed over to another song (the bassline for Come As You Are, one of the first and easiest things he'd learned to play) and opened his eyes again as the door opened, grinning at the blonde who'd walked in.

The blonde who looked to be about the same age as him. Score.

"Hey there." He grinned at her, then motioned toward the bass. "Is this going to bother you?"

The book was a little lighter reading this time, as Olivia found that she really didn't have the patience for law right now. Not with her brain constantly shifting gears and thinking about other things. Things she refused to think about right now.

She glanced up as the young man spoke and she felt her own smile widen a little, her hand moving to hold the page in the book she was reading. "No, not at all. I used to play the piano, so I know how it goes. 'Practice makes perfect' and all that."

He grinned at her again and settled back into the couch, nodding. "Piano, nice. Too bad they don't have one here... We could play together." Brian loved roping people with musical talent of some kind into playing with him. He'd never played against a piano before, either.

"I'm Brian." He leaned over and stuck a hand out in greeting. "I just got here a couple weeks ago."

Jessie felt the thrumming of a bass guitar almost before she heard it. The deep, bone vibrating sound was coming from the rec room and she turned in it's direction. It reminded her of some of the deeper whale songs she had heard.

There was a young guy lounging on the couch with the bass in his lap, idly playing. Jess wasn't sure if she had seen him around the base before or not, with almost everyone changed either older or younger, it was difficult to tell.

"Hi," she sat down on the other end of the couch. "I'm Jessie. I don't know if I've seen you around or not."

He smiled at the girl as she sat down. She looked to be about six, but from how she spoke, it was obvious she had been affected by the same thing affecting him.

"Brian, and no, you haven't. I'm new." He grinned, silencing his bass once more.

"Pleased to meet you." She smiled back at him. Sitting on the couch, her legs didn't even reach the floor. Brian's long legs were stretched out in front of him. He looked to be about seventeen or eighteen, and he was large even for that age. Unless she asked, she had no way to tell if that was his correct age or not.

"I've only been here a couple of months myself. Did you get caught up in this age-changing thing, too?"

Nicky leaned against the wall listening to the music. He'd never really heard anything like it before but there was a lot he hadn't heard before. He wasn't sure if the other man wanted to be interrupted or not so he stayed silent just watching.

Razi didn't hesitate to interrupt though and the large puppy ran over barking at the sounds.

Brian played softly, not really bothering to play anything he knew, just putting notes together cohesively. That changed when there was barking coming barreling toward him.

He immediately set aside his bass and greeted the dog with a surprised, happy face. "Hey doggie!" He reached down and pet the wriggling dog, excited as only dog lovers can be. "Oh my god who's cute?" He batted at the dog for a moment then looked around, seeing the man standing there near the wall.

"Is he yours?" Brian grinned and turned his attention back to the dog, making little yipping noises at him under his breath.

He laughed at the way the other guy was talking to Razi. Nicky automatically liked anyone that liked his dog.

"Yeah he's mine. His name is Razi and I think he liked your music,"he smiled a little moving more into the room. "I'm Nicky." He had his hands in his pockets shoulders hunching a little automatically.

"Whatta good puppy," Brian said in a low, playful voice. "This is a cool dog, man." He grinned at Nicky, still shoving Razi across the floor and making a surprised face when the dog came bounding back over.

"I'm Brian, nice to meet you." He yipped a few more times at Razi then sat back on the couch, patting the dogs head. "How long have you had him?"
