Lou was sitting in the mess hall, ignoring all the kids. She didn't do well with children. Regardless of whether they were usually adults or whatever. They were noisy, fussy and usually needed a permanent nap ( Read more... )

Lou grinned at Des as she looked at the picture. "You should see Jane's apartment. I did his walls." She'd lived there when her parents divorced, and Jane had been ridiculously lenient with her 'vandalism' of his once upon a time white walls.

"Where is this coffee shop?" She doubted she'd need to be flown there after all of this. If Jane took retirement or discharge, well, she'd grab a place near him. And Jane? He'd so totally be near Des.

Louisa watched, thinking it over for a minute. "You ah, you want that heated up a bit?" People putting things like honey and jam in the fridge didn't make sense to her at all. But whatever, she drew on things.

She held out her hand in offering, her palm turning light pink as she heated it out. "We're based in Washington, but I think Jane's got plans to move." She offered, it was likely that Des would know why, "He likes to surf." But Lou would offer something else to pretend on.

There were kids.

There were LOTS of kids.

Allison wasn't too terribly concerned with it, since most seemed to still be cursing and bitching like adults. The issue was that they had seemed to have lost their adult reserve in the shuffle of their ages, and they were loud. And annoying. There were a few exceptions, but in general?

Very annoying.

She headed into the mess hall, stopping as a seven year old in an MP's coat and no pants, socks, or shoes went running by, Allison shaking her head and laughing a little. She grabbed some food and a bottle of water, then spotted Lou. She was 'hiding out' with Manuel so often that she rarely saw the inside of her own room anymore. She felt bad for Forge, too.

"Hey, roomie. Long time no see. So what in the fuck is going on around here?" Allison was glad to see Lou was still her correct age and wearing pants.

Louisa looked up from her doodling, not surprised that this was the place she saw more of Allison in. "People are kids. People are noisy." She shrugged slightly, running an ink stained hand through her hair.

"The barracks are louder than this. I don't even know who's what age now." She hadn't seen many people she recognised, but then again, she was the stay in one place and ignore people type.

"Been up to much?"

She sat down across the table, leaning forward and lengthening out to get a good look at what she was doodling. "Oh, nice. Dia de los Muertos?" Allison knew of the skulls for Day of the Dead, but she wasn't sure if that was what Lou was going for, or just letting her doodling wander where it wanted to go.

Nodding, Allison cracked open her bottle of water and ripped open a bag of chips, eating one. "I know. It's really weird to go into the showers. I'm tempted to wear a bathing suit." She smirked, then a little blush rose in her cheeks.

"No, been laying low since we got back from the mission. Manuel and I got back together, so... Lots of missed time to make up for, I guess? I dunno." She shrugged, grinning to herself. "Forge is sixteen, I know that much. I don't even know who the hell else has been hit. I'm fine, you're fine, Manny's fine... Weird."

Louisa nodded at Allison's almost unvoiced question. "I was in Mexico one time for the celebrations, I loved it. But this is just," she offered a shrug, "it's just doodles."

She liked skulls. Sugar skulls, zombie skulls, rainbow skulls. It was fun to just draw. "I think I saw Esme, she's like nine or something, I don't know. A kid though." It looked like some people went extreme either way while others weren't touched.

"I know that Des and Worth are fine too."

Jessie was going to get some hot chocolate when she noticed a girl sitting at one of the tables nearby, drawing. On the table. Wandering over she pulled out a chair and climbed up on it to get a look. She was pleasantly surprised by the colorful skull drawing.

"Wow. So you're the artist who decorated the plates and cups," she said grinning. "I'm Jessie. I like your work. Lord knows we could use some color besides concrete gray around here."

Louisa nodded at the inquiry, noting that the girl was fairly young -probably an age change victim since the only kids she'd seen before it were boys. "Yeah, I just get bored and," she shrugged slightly, "doodle."

It was weird to talk to people who weren't adults any more, when they should've been. But then it was probably worse for them. "I'm Lou."

[sorry, the lack of lj notifications made me miss this.]

(ooc: no worries. Lj just being Lj again.)

"Nice to meet you. And you doodle very well." Jessie watched Lou work for a while it was soothing to watch her lay down the bright colors, see the pattern grow. "You don't mind if I watch, do you?"

She shrugged a shoulder, "No, I don't mind." She wasn't used to an audience watching her draw though, it did seem like they liked her drawings. Then again, they hadn't seen her brother's apartment.

The walls in his house were pretty much covered in her earlier doodles -including misshaped dogs, wonky rainbows and some questionable looking unicorns.

But then, Jane had always just humoured her. "You don't draw?"
