My expedition to the fish market has proven profitable. I have taken posession of several serviceable blades, more than I need, but enough, perhaps, to be of assistance to the rest of the community. The state in which I found them was quite as unappealing as one would expect of metal left among rotting meat for so long, and I have spent a

...hey, I got a question for an old man who sounds like he's pretty okay at advice?
What do you do when you find out too late you're bunkering down with someone who you thought was a friend, but could actually be someone dangerous to associate with? You know, like...someone who did something really wrong, and never told you about it. Like kidnap little girls to make people find his mother for him.

Well, in that particular circumstance, I think that a wise plan of action might be to thank one's host for their hospitality, excuse oneself politely, and run rather fast. Possibly securing any little girls in the area for their own safety.
Er - are there any little girls in the area to complicate your escape?

Right now we're waiting out the virus, away from the others. I can hold my own against him if I need to, if anyone needs to get away, we're...almost an even match.
I was actually asking more along the lines of how to you approach somebody with something like that. "Hey, so...I heard that you're a ruthless maniac. Does this put a dent in our friendship, or is that in the past?"
I've also been lied to about who my enemies really are before. I wouldn't want to toss off a good friend, just because of something I heard from someone else I barely know even less.

This is something to consider very carefully: whether or not you believe you can trust in your friend enough to let him know that you have reason not to. Someone who is reconsidering their past must accept that they will be called upon to answer for their actions, and if your friend is worthy of your friendship, then he will do what he can to preserve it.
Many times, those who are unworthy will do so as well, but it falls to you to determine which this particular friend is.
At any rate, the situation is one to handle carefully. And - just a tip - I would avoid using "ruthless maniac" as a descriptive phrase when first broaching the subject. Even the worthy do not often respond well to that kind of wording.
[a longer pause]
If you ne - if you want help, I will be listening.

Some of the knives are longer than others, but none more so than a man's forearm. Still, they are sharp, and should hold an edge. I am at work fixing one of the longer ones to the end of the pipe I have been using as a staff. I have not used a naginata in some time, but I believe I will have plenty of opportunity to become reaccustomed to one.

That's a pretty resourceful idea, actually! Let's hope the monsters don't give you too much trouble though, eh~?

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by "firearms."

Plastic. Found in museums that cannot find or afford anything more interesting to grace their displays. Oil is a non-renewable resource not found on most planets and moons. Obsolete.
