Nine Days. You know, like the band.

For those of you who haven't heard, I had quite the rough day yesterday. I woke up to a very disturbing voicemail from a good friend of mine, flipped out, tried to contact her roommate via facebook (since I didn't have any of her contact info), eventually ended up calling her parents, who told me she was in the hospital and her mom was flying in ( Read more... )

Wow, that is really scary, hon. Like you said, sometimes it's hard to try and trust in the mental health care system but in truth your friend is in a place that probably has more resources to help her than if she had just stayed home. It must be very scary to think that one has a brain tumor, though. :(

Yeah, I know, I mean, I'm glad she's at least in good hands now, and really glad that her mom is here now, too. But I still feel kind of helpless, and I hate that feeling more than anything. Haha, my mom said she's proud to hear that I'm such a good friend...I told her I learned from the best! :)

It sounds a lot like what happened to my sister, well similar anyway. She also was afraid to talk to the doctors (well, with her it was all of them), as she thought that it was all a big conspiracy, and that they were "a part of it" or something. I'll be thinking about you and her though, and hopefully all will be over soon... I'm still curious as to what triggered it though. With my sister, she was just home all the time with the baby, never got out, and just got completely absorbed in the news, which escalated into feeling like there was a big conspiracy and everyone was a part of it. She even called my mom and after a short time told my mom that she was starting to talk like "them". I know it's scary, but assuming it is purely psychological, they'll bring her back =)

I wish I knew what caused it. All I can think of is that when I talked to her Friday night (for 6 freakin' hours, lol - and she was completely fine then), the subject of her uncle did come up, and she was trying to understand herself better. So I guess maybe somehow those two combined in her mind in a weird way that's convinced her that she has the same thing he had. I don't really know though, I'm just speculating. But anyway, I'm glad to hear that your sister came back from her paranoia! It's comforting to know of other cases where people have come back. I just hope that this is also one of those cases...

Thanks...I hope so too! I haven't been able to really get in touch with anyone since Sunday. I had a brief text message conversation with her roommate yesterday, but she didn't really know much. I'm gonna try to call her mom again this afternoon.
