Don's all for free alcohol, even if the stuff he has left in the office tastes better--and if he's honest that only matters until the fourth drink, anyway. What's begun to wear on him is the inadvertent broadcasts of feeble drunken blustering. It's like looking into a very unflattering mirror.

"Your tablet's on." He sounds as if he's suppressing a sigh of his own.

"Gorramit," Jayne muttered, picking up the device and shutting it off. He set it down and went back to his drink, unaware that the tablet had switched back on again, broadcasting the sounds of his drinking.

The sound cut out. Don cast one last wary look at the tablet, was at the point of tossing it aside when the low, almost subliminal barroom murmur resumed.

"Still on." His tone lightened. "Order a pitcher of something and drop it in."

Rose listened to what she assumed was an accidental broadcast and she was focused on only one thing.

"The drinks are free?"

She couldn't remember the last time she had a decent drink and after hearing that, it only became much more appealing. Except Rose didn't know exactly where the bar was.

Jayne jumped a little at the voice coming from his tablet. Couldn't a man have his privacy without the damn aliens turning on his tablet?

Sliding it closer, he replied, "Yeah, all month. Cuz of some ol' holiday back on Earth-what-was where ya drank yourself unconscious. Or at least that's how I understand it."

"Hold on, lemme see..." He found his dot and read off the street name for her. "There ya go. Lookin' forward to seein' if you're as pretty as you sound."

Jayne slowly lifted his head, stared at the man incredulously, looked around himself to make sure he was actually the one being addressed, then snagged a bartender and ordered another drink.

"You're that fancy talkin' one that tried to get me to take a survey when I got here, aintcha?"

Jayne raised an eyebrow at the man who had spoken. He hadn't even really been looking for an answer, but he'd found it.

"Well that's a helluva note," he answered grumpily, taking another gulp of his drink. "Was just ponderin' to myself if the worlds keep on turnin' out there while we're stuck here."
