There are various noises coming a short distance away from the microphone, including chatter, chairs being pulled out, music, and the sound of liquid filling a glass. A gruff voice, much closer to the tablet says, "Gimme another." Then a pause. "They're still free, right

The Extras kept insisting that the beer was free, but after rehab, Spencer found it prudent to stay away from all controlled substances. Narcotics and depressants were different things, to be sure, but he didn't want to take his chances. He wasn't really a drinker before the dilaudad incident, so he didn't find it to be much of a sacrifice. Instead, Spencer sat at the bar, sipping his Coke.
He had noticed Jayne and recognized him as Kaylee's companion, but after his first conversation with him, he didn't think it wise to speak up again. After his rant, however, Spencer couldn't hold his tongue.
"I've wondered that myself. It seems as though we must be part of some sort of experiment, though I certainly can't figure out their hypothesis. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to anything that happens in this place. I mean, why bring a large amount of law enforcement here but have no crime for them to manage? It's not very logical."
He took another sip of his Coke.

"Y-Yes, that's me. I'm running a statistical analysis of all of the inhabitants of this place and all data that I can add to it is greatly appreciated."

Spencer took another drink. Truthfully, despite his smarts, Spencer was one of the most humble people you'd meet. He wasn't sure why Jayne kept projecting onto him.

"Maybe you should try loosenin' up a bit. You look tighter then a virgin's--" He was cut off as an Extra came by to ask if he'd like another drink.
"Sure, fill 'er up!"

It took him a second to finish that statement in his mind, and his cheeks flushed when it finally clicked. He'd never heard that one before. He wanted to chock it up to the fact that Jayne was drunk, but he was fairly sure he'd have said it sober as well.
"Kaylee has said the same thing to me. I'm not really sure how to be any other way..."

"Not sure if you could be, to tell ya the truth. Look atcha, all buttoned up like you're goin' to Sunday dinner."

Never mind the fact that he usually wore Chuck Taylors in the field. That wasn't something that needed to be mentioned at this moment.

He shook his head like he couldn't believe he had to spell this out for a fancy talking professional man.

Truth be told, even though Spencer obviously wasn't going to work every day, putting on his work clothes made him feel better. Every morning, he still tucked his credentials in his pocket and attached his gun to his belt. It was a routine that comforted him and he wasn't about to stop.

It took a minute, but then his brain kicked in and he remembered that there was no Alliance here. This guy was a different kind of Fed. Still, it sounded like law enforcement so Jayne would have to stay on his guard.
"Ya tried these peanuts yet?" he asked, digging his hand into the bowl on the bar and trying to appear casual. Unfortunately, Jayne wasn't much of an actor, tending to lay things on pretty thick.
