William jumps at the sound of a voice and looks around wildly. He doesn't see anyone. Possibly because he doesn't think to look at the flat device on the bedside table.

"Who's there?" he asks warily. "Show yourself."

Sorry, Connor, he's got no idea who you are.

William cautiously headed towards the voice. "Tablet? Spike? Castle? What are you talking about, sir? Who are you?"

When a visual comes up on Lorne's tablet of Spike shirtless, you bet he's going to keep an eye on that.

Hey, don't judge. Just a bit of harmless observation.

But then he looks in the mirror. And has a reflection. Something weird is going on. He turns on his holo feed so that Spike can see him from where he's standing. "What woman did what to you? Also, why do you have a reflection all of a sudden?"

Someone else in the room? William turns around and his mouth drops open in shock. What the... thing says barely registers. Instead he starts backing away.

"W-what sort of devil are you?" he asks, eyes wide.

Lorne blinks in confusion. A spell? Possession? Body-swap? Amnesia? Or maybe one of those "glitches" Fred told him about. He has to narrow down which one this is without scaring the guy off. He already suspects one thing going on.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm just a guy in a funny costume. I sing too. Kids love it." Which isn't even a lie. Lorne's a hit at children's parties. "I'm trying to help you out here. Can you do me a favor and sing for me?" He eyes Spike - or not!Spike - speculatively. "Maybe you oughta take a few deep breaths first. Think calm thoughts."

"I certainly won't." William crosses his arms and glares. "It's a magnificent costume, by the way, and I've got no idea how you managed to appear in my room like that without me noticing anything. Still, why should singing help me at all?"

"Did you just say 'good lord'?"

Spike is currently the recipient of a Buffy Original 'What is up with your weird behavior' look. She's very carefully not commenting on the subject of 'that woman' however, as she probably doesn't want to know, and it's not her place to ask.

By now, William has found the tablet. He still can't believe that he can talk to people through it. It's so far beyond anything he's seen before. Still, he's clever enough that he can figure out what each button does, if not how they work.

"Er, yes, I did," he says, giving the woman a confused look. "Should I not have?" It might be taking the lord's name in vain, he supposes, but it's not really how he meant it.

"Well, unless you were aiming to sound like Gilesholy crap you're reflecting."

Yes, she only just noticed. She was distracted, which is absolutely a valid excuse for her tremendous lack of observational skills. "Spike, how are you reflecting?"

Clearly it's not his language with which she has a problem. And who is Giles?

"Why does everyone keep exclaiming over something as unimpressive as having a reflection? Don't you have one?" William frowns a bit. "And why do people keep saying 'Spike?' I'm sorry, Miss, but nothing anyone's said to me today makes a lick of sense, I don't know where I am, and I really should get home."

"William?"

And it really was William. She'd know that voice anywhere. He's so young. Something has stripped away the years and washed off the dust of his universe, leaving a little boy with so much potential in his place.

She'd almost forgotten. It had been such a long time.

"You're all ... new."

But she wouldn't be allowed to start again. The chip wouldn't let her.

Oh, that voice and face William knows.

"You," he says, looking at her suspiciously. "What happened? Did you bring me here? Where are my clothes?"

It wasn't fair. She could remember, even now, how delicious - how warm and fresh and exciting - he'd tasted.

"Someone brought both of us here," she said, with a slight toss of her head. The memories were making her mouth water and her tummy rumble. "I would have taken you somewhere nicer."

"Are we prisoners?" William asks. This doesn't look like a cell, and he can't imagine who would want to kidnap him. He walks to the window and looks out. "...am I in a castle?"

Wesley is about to ask the platinum-haired vampire what's wrong when his eyes widen and he lets out an exclamation of his own.

"Good lord. Your reflection!"

William frowns and looks from the tablet to the mirror. "It... this isn't what I look like normally. Er, is it possibly just the reflection? I suppose you can see me through this mechanism the same way I can see you. Do I have such strangely colored hair from your perspective too?"

"You look the same as you did yesterday to me, Spike. However, it's the fact that you have a reflection at all which is so startling. Angel had one when he was in the Pylean hell dimension but that was because the rules governing our world didn't seem to apply there."

He peers more closely at the screen as if trying to discern more from observation alone.

"While you've both been able to walk under the Taxon sun without any ill-effect, I should think this is quite a new occurrence. Perhaps I ought to come to you and see if we can get to the bottom of this anomaly."

William straightens himself. "Sir, I can't say I understood even half of what you said, but I'd rather you stay away. I have no interest in discussing my well-being with a stranger who, with all due respect, seems quite mad. Of course I have a reflection, and why wouldn't I be able to walk in the sun? And what's this got to do with angels and hell?"
