005 [ Accidental Visual | Location: Castle Summers ]
William wakes up unsure where he is.
What happened last night? There'd been that party, and Cecily telling him he was beneath her. Then he'd left. He remembered a woman, strange and beautiful, offering him something effulgent and then... nothing.
He fumbles for his glasses that he keeps on the bedside table, but all that's there is an empty mug and some flat item he doesn't recognize. In his fumbling he accidentally hits the button that starts the visual feed.
He roles over and sits up, blinking in the sunlight. How late did he sleep? And where is this? It's not his room. And where is his shirt? Something's strange about his trousers, and he feels... different all over. He wishes his glasses hadn't vanished. He can see without them, but not nearly as well. What if he needs to read something?
William doesn't know whose room this is, but his tastes in clothes are atrocious. He rifles through the closet, wishing there was something that didn't look like it would have been most appropriate if worn to a funeral. There were a few red or purple shirts, but no proper suits.
Finally, he settles on a black shirt, slips it on, and goes to the mirror to button it up.
His reflection does not look like William.
Sure, the face is about the same, though William never had a scar like that on his eyebrow, and he was never this pale. His body is toned and muscular. William isn't much of an athlete. He prefers poetry and the more refined arts. He's never had a body like this.
But most surprising is his hair. It's shorter than he remembers, and completely white. He runs his fingers through it. The texture is strange and stiff. He's different, this place is different, and he still can't remember how last night ended.
"Good lord," he says quietly, still squinting a this reflection. "What did that woman do to me?"
