Despite the odd weather changes that had come over the usually unclouded Taxon skies, Helen Magnus continued with her plans to have a party on All Hallows Eve. Normally, Helen wouldn't even consider such things, but given that most of her residents would be expecting one? She didn't mind having one for the occasion. On the morning of Halloween she ( Read more... )

Chiana had no idea what Halloween was, or what sort of holiday it was to these people, but any excuse to drink and dance was good enough for her. Costumes were a laughable concept. Chiana dressed as she was. What good was it to be something else? She was rather fond of her own appearance. The location was easy enough to find. Chiana hadn't rushed, or worried about making it 'on time.' For all she knew, she wouldn't know anyone at the party.

The gray-skinned girl walked right up to the big doors for the Sanctuary and walked through towards signs of general party behavior. Her gaze moved quickly from side to side, catching all the sights and sounds. Her mind was on one-track. Drinks.

"Where's the tap?" She asked no one in particular.

"Tap?" Helen asked, turning to the gray girl.

Chiana turned and quirked her head to the side, a little smile playing on her lips.

"Yeah, tap. Alcohol? Something strong. Know where I could find some?"

"Ah, over on the table over there." Helen gesutred.

Helen stayed near the back of the foyer, her hands folded over the beige 18th century gown. She adjusted the hat slightly, wearing a small smile. The dress wasn't the type she had worn growing up and was slightly embarrassing to be seen in. Helen hadn't dressed up in some sort of accordance to how her upbringing was in some time. It was a rare sight to see Helen Magnus nervous.

Gaila passes by, drink in her hand, when she catches sight of Helen; she smiles. "You look very pretty, Dr. Magnus," she compliments.

"Thank you, Miss Gaila." Helen smiled at the woman, though her eyebrows perked up at the... lack of clothing she had on the upper part of her body. "Taking the mermaid look to almost literal definitions, I see."

Gaila smirks. "I wanted to be as accurate as possible."

Halloween Parties weren't something new to Peter. His family had all sorts of parties towards this time of the year. True, he hadn't dressed up since he was a kid. He originally wasn't going to go until Claire had given that 'you weren't there to trick or treat with me as a kid, so you're making it up now' look. He decided to dress up as the monster hunter from that one movie with the vampires, werewolves, and Frankenstein. And the hat was a good convenience if he wanted to pull it down and fall asleep.

Max had never celebrated Halloween until last year when she'd taken Joshua trick-or-treating after having that weird-ass dream. And even then, she hadn't dressed up for it. She'd been perfectly content to do the same thing she'd done on the holiday the previous years - ignore it - but Peter had asked her to go when Claire had asked him.

She still would have been happy to ignore the holiday, but then Peter had given her a version of the look Claire had given him. Only his had been more of an it's not fair to let me go through this alone look.

So she'd hatched herself a costume (minus the wig, because blonde didn't look good on her) and headed downstairs. Once she spotted Peter, she walked up to him, hands on her hips.

"All right, I'm here. And look, I even dressed for the occasion."

Peter tipped the hat of his costume up a bit and grinned at her. He wasn't expecting her to be a mermaid out of all things. Though at least she showed up dressed up.

"Nice. Didn't know you were into mermaids."

"Never really was until I heard the story." Actually, she'd only read part of it. And then managed to find and watch the movie at Logan's reccomendation. (It turned out Original Cindy was a fan of Disney, who knew?) "Who are you supposed to be?"

Halloween is something Gaila is well-acquainted with by now; in four years, she has gone through several costumes for many parties and attempted trick-or-treating complete with the entire "give me something good to eat..." and pulling down her underwear - unsurprisingly, that did not go over well. She doesn't know the history by a long shot, either, but hey, she loves the costume idea.

And this year, she is a mermaid (whose history she is, also, rather unfamiliar with). Naturally, she is wearing a sea shell bra with a blue, tight bottom as her tail; the fabric is shimmery but designed with a scale-like print. A fabric bracelet around her left wrist is attached to the end of the tail, too, so she has a fin. She's barefoot but not very worried about her toes being stepped on. And of course, there's a couple fake starfishes in her curly hair.

Obviously, Gaila puts a great effort into her costumes. Or rather, the hatch she used did for her - but her attention to detail was an effort, too! Really.

Sheppard himself hadn't seen a Halloween in five years. Atlantis wasn't much of a party place. They'd say 'Happy Halloween' in passing, sure. Just no big celebration. So he decided to stop by Magnus's for the festivities. See if there was anyone he knew there.

He recognized Gaila and her... lack of clothing on her upper body half. Well, then.

"Hey, Cadet." He offered.

Have a big grin, Shepphard.

"Hey!" Then, there's a pause, and Gaila smirks, poking his chest teasingly. "You never told me your name, mister."

"Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, ma'am." He grinned back. "Though right now? I'm James Bond. And you are a very..." what was the right word? "controversial mermaid."

The word 'party' was pretty much a magical, musical word to Cordelia's ears. And costumes! Well, of course she would wear one - although her choice wasn't something expected of her, actually.

Gunning for the whole 'irony' thing, Cordelia had decided to be a nun for the party. She wasn't wearing an extremely longish dress - after all, she did want to show off this gorgeous pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes she'd hatched earlier. Whoever said that nuns couldn't be solemn and stylish at the same time ought to be shot. Really.

Cordelia looked around her, trying to see if any of her friends had come to the party. God, they'd better - or else there would be hell to pay. She was looking forward to a night of fun and drinks with the people she loved, after all!

It was easy to recognize Cordelia, even in the nun outfit. Probably because she was one of the few in Taxon that was so bright and... bouncy. Sheppard made his way over to her, his drink in his hand (that was shaken not stirred, thank you).

"Chase." He nodded to her. "Never thought I'd see a fashionable Nun." At least he assumed it was fashionable. Cordelia was that type of woman.

"Well, you're looking at one, obviously." She grinned and winked at him. Should nuns even wink at guys? Well, there's a thought.

Cordelia raised a brow at him. "Let me guess. Either you're James Bond or a guy going to a wedding. It can go either way."

Sheppard chuckled. "Kind of obvious. What other guy walks around in a suite with a drink? Though I guess I should go get roughed up. Would look more like him."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a deck of cards. "Casino Royale anyone?"
