FNL: "Yell 'Bye' Louder!!!"

Feb 08, 2008 21:59

So I never do posts about Friday Night Lights, and I haven't made a secret of the fact that this season hasn't clicked for me like last year's near-perfect one. But there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud this week and in general just reminded me why, even when it's been off, this show is a one-of-a-kind ( Read more... )

I'm glad you enjoyed FNL this week. I thought last week's and this week's episodes were the best two of the season. It's so sad this could be it. I'm trying to stay optimistic though; hopefully we'll see how some of the stories that were left open last night are resolved.

I thought it was so nice to see the heart/humor combo back. I had missed Landry & Matt interacting and talking about their girl problems. Coach's jealously was hilarious too as was the Tim Riggins radio show. I've been so impressed with the development of Tim this season. I could've cared less about him last season, but when he moved in with the Taylors, I knew my opinion of him had completely changed. Last but not least, I'll echo the love for Mama Smash. She doesn't get much screentime, but she certainly makes the most of it.

Yeah, I did like it, which is weird because a lot of these stories I definitely do not like and they were showcased in this episode, but still, it just felt like old FNL to me. I think it was the humor that did it. Last year when I watched, I was constantly cracking up. All the time. But this year I've barely laughed. I have two favorite eps from this season, but I can't remember what they are. One of them was early in the season (I think maybe the 3rd or 4th ep) and the other was from a few weeks ago, I think it was the ep where Coach found out the truth about Julie's drinking and Tim helping her and they had that great scene. That was a great ep.

I've just registered that this was the season and possibly series finale. Granted, this season has not been the best and IMO it has taken a fall from last season. But I still maintain it is one of the best, most talented shows on the air right now and it deserves to stay on. At the very least, a proper ending. Like my dad was saying when I told him, they haven't even gone to the playoffs ( ... )

Oh good someone else that doesn't really care for tyra/landry lol. That pairing just doesn't do anything for me. I really dislike Tim/Lyla...I actually liked Tim best this season in the scenes with Julie :D, he actually wasn't being a massive idiot then so *thumbs up* :p
Totally with you on the Lyla thing...and I thought the same thing about misrepresenting Christians. Ugh.
Aw, I still have hope for Jason/Lyla...that pregnancy thing was freakin shocking though!
BTW have you been keeping up with Smallville or no? I have to say, you were right to not start watching again (if you haven't) because they have kinda ruined Clark/Lana for me...I think its the thing I fear with Jate, there's angst but such contrived angst that is only done in this case because Clark doesn't end up with Lana in the comics, but it just turns me off.

Oh, I HATE Tyra/Landry, and I've made no secret about it around my family. They think I'm funny anyway because I don't watch many shows with my parents but we've always watched this one together and I'm so vocal about the pairings. Anyway, I've told them how much I do not like Tyra/Landry, and my mom's like, "Aw, I think they're kinda cute." I just give her this look and go, "No, Mom." My mom doesn't have the first idea about shipping. LOL

I've loved Tim this season because for awhile there he wasn't heavily involved in a romantic scenario; it was just him dealing with his life, living with the Taylors, etc. I hate the Tim/Lyla pairing, so that's not my favorite, and now I really don't want them together because for me Tim is so much more liked than Lyla. I don't care much for her. The Christian storyline does not help. My mom was laughing/perplexed about this ep whenever Lyla is bringing around the offering "basket." She's like, "They should have deacons for that." The church is so ghetto. Most churches aren't like that. I just ( ... )

I was finally able to watch the last two episodes. I love this show, and I hope it'll stick around for at least some more episodes :/

In ep 14 the scene with Matt and Coach in the bathroom absolutely killed me. It hurt so much to see Matt going downhill like that, but that scene as a culmination of that was just brilliant.

And you gotta love jealous Coach, lmao. He's so damn cute when he's like that :D

I agree with what you said about Tim, and he really grew on me this season. The only character I still can't stand is Lyla. And I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought "WTF" when they were about to have sex on the ranch.

And you know that I don't mind Landry and Tyra, not that I ship them, but I don't hate the pairing ;) But I have to say that I really liked Landry with Jean and I actually thought now that they'd stick with them, and not have Landry go back to Tyra.

Ah well. Let's hope for some good news for this show :)
