The weird thing about the rights to those properties Marvel can't use in the movies (Spider-Man, FF, etc) is that I understand it, they only apply to movies. I mean, this is why the spectacular spider-man cartoon was canceled- Disney declined to continue licensing the rights to whichever company as making them so they could make their own show. Which they did.
So I kind of expected that expanding into TV would let them go nuts. But apparently not? Or maybe they don't want to bring up anything they can't mention in the movies?
Yeah, I think its the movies things. 1.8 referenced Dark World and I suppose there will be future planned tie-ins, easter egg nuggets for fans who watch both. But episode 1.9 further emphasises the dance around 'mutants'. Coulson mentions the 'watch' list of powerful humans with abilities is short. Telekinesis is a as yet unproved, unexperienced phenomenon and all I could think at the screen was, "what? huh? x-men and professor x anyone?"
It's like this Marvel verse consists entirely of just the Avengers... which also doesn't make sense as Spidey and Storm were both avengers for awhile.
