Thing 1:
I went to the Akron-Summit County Public Library today and checked out Pride of Baghdad, written by Brian Vaughan and illustrated by Niko Henrichon. Yeah, it's a graphic novel. This is uncharted territory for me, and, quite frankly, a little bit frightening. Apparently it describes wartime life in current-day Iraq from the perspective of a ( Read more... )

Thing 1: Interesting find. More reason for people to visit there local libraries. :D

Thing 1: Actually it was pretty prominently on display, so it wasn't exactly a "find." I found it in the "Popular Culture" section. :o

Oh man, I love that little book. I own a copy so I can crack it open every now and then and admire the art. Story's not bad, either. c:

COMIC BOOK.

It has a hard cover, so it doesn't feel right to call it a comic book. Also, it's not comedic.

Doesn't have to be comedic to call it a comic book :(. But eh, to me "graphic novel" just sounds like a term made up by insecure comic lovers to make their hobby sounds more SERIOUS RARR MANLY.

But I'm just silly anyway I won't jump on you again :(.

Iunno, it just doesn't look like a comic book. Besides, the LIBRARY calls it a graphic novel. I'm not exactly up on the terms.
