"The guy should get a medal for what he did."

I felt like I was cleaning up a mess. Not like spilled food, not like vomit, not even like…not even like diarrhea. The worst mess possible. And I was stuck with it…They weren’t human. I don’t see them as human. I see them as vermin. Social mistakes, social problems.
These are the words of a killer shortly after he committed his crime. His victims ( Read more... )

Sean Hannity being an assclown is something no one will likely contest.

Mr. Smith was convicted, rightly so. Because his actions show premeditation and the execution-style acts were indefensible as any kind of self-defense.

However, we're also dealing with an old man living alone whose home had been broken into multiple times. I can say that after a burglary, I had trouble sleeping in the house.

Which naturally justifies sticking a gun under a seriously injured girl's chin and pulling the trigger.

Actually it doesn't, which is why he was convicted.

Hannity and his ilk are obviously overflowing
with the spirit of Christian love.

Your average christian has way more class than Hannity's ilk.

Not that that's a particularly high bar to set, just saying. ;)

I'm sure you're right, but it is striking that someone
like Hannity can openly and proudly brandish both
sets of attitudes. I can't help thinking that
one set must not be especially genuine.

My pet theory is that the major networks administer a psych eval on each new hire to ensure that they are hypocritical assholes.

As fizzy already said, Mr. Smith was convicted, and rightly so IMO, because the coup de'grace was clearly premeditated and un-called for.

In other words the Law functioned exactly as it should.

It's not like his victims were innocent by any stretch, and it's not like he was acquitted either, so I don't get why you're so outraged.

Yes, Hannity is an ass, but then again so are lots of people on TV. In other news water is wet and the pope is Catholic.

Yep. That's why this post emphasizes the media aspect of this case.

Hannity is an ass with a large following and a bully pulpit.

And cold blooded murder is no less terrible when the victims are juvenile delinquents.

Yes, and?

I could say the same about Bill Maher or Al Sharpton, but that doesn't mean it's anything worth getting mad about. Like I said, water wet, Pope Catholic.

And cold blooded murder is no less terrible when the victims are juvenile delinquents.

I disagree but that's really it's own topic.

s: Yes, and?

And asses with large followings and bully pulpits can do a lot of damage.

s: I could say the same about Bill Maher or Al Sharpton,

What violent murders have they lionized?

Nice to know you think some murders are only kind of bad.

So why were the in his house? From what I read, they had broken into his house recently before, that is why he was so on edge.

Uh, they broke in.

Did they deserve the death penalty?

Have you actually listened to that audio? The whole 29 minutes?
