It doesn't have the imaginative flair of WoW's semi-cartoonish graphics, but it also looks much better cranked way up. It looks like Tabi's playing it on low settings.
Yeah, I did say that's on the very low setting. My connection doesn't like to load a lot of stuff.
It's the animations that put me off, honestly. They don't have the smoothness of WoW characters at all, they're not really beautiful to look at with a few exceptions. However, I'm getting over that since it's the only thing I've found to dislike to far.
If you decide to DL the free trial (7 days to try it, whee!) then friend and send a tell to: Silana, Checkerberry, Sileirien, or Nenuvyiel if you see me on!
Dan and Joe both got on today and it was hysterical!
Can you be something beastly? Like uh..something fuzzy with claws. Or feathers. Or scales. I don't care what. I'm sick of playing humanoids =( I guess there are no droods.. And I guess Baloggs (spelling?)aren't playable.. damn.
How about a pony? Froggy? Bug? Something that doesn't have pinkish, human-like skin?
Once you get a regular character to level 10 you can spend all the time you want involved in Monster Play, which is the PvP part of the game. Unfortunately, it's only in one zone and it *is* PvP, so of course the Monsters are greatly outnumbered. I plan to try being a wolf at some point when I'm bored.
But no, the game is strongly based in Tolkein's lore and it wouldn't be appropriate to have orcs or whatnot be generally playable races, since they are no-shades-of-grey-evil.
Yeah, sadly Middle Earth doesn't offer much outside of humans of differing proportions and backgrounds, appearance-wise. :P
And while there isn't a druid if you're looking for shape-shifty goodness, Lore-Masters are about as Druid-y as you can get in the game, which was enough for me to get by with Zyr... even if gameplay-wise they're like a jack-of-all-trades you'd get if you mashed a Warlock and a Shaman together. Lots of pets, lots of debuffs, light defenses, and some ability to spec for beating down in melee with a staff in one hand and a sword in the other if that's what you like (which I can't wait for >.>).
