The whole "Ginny and Trelawney are BFFs" thing seems to be made up entirely, or possibly imported from Psychic Serpent, as in canon there's no indication that they have any kind of relationship beyond teacher/student.
The whole setup with Ginny and Trelawney being the best of friends kind of came across as subtle Character Bashing toward Ginny, considering Harry and Hermione's rather frequent expressions of distaste toward Trelawney and the subject of Divination whenever either are brought up, which is also emulated by Neil with Jamie's seeming complete ineptitude at the subject.
Harry didn't like Divination and wasn't very good at it, but never hated Trelawney. He didn't have any reason to. He (and Hermione and Ron) just saw her as a harmless kook.
Now the author decides to skim over the irrelevancies. We could have done with some of that in the previous scene.
Not to mention the fact that it seems they're trying to make small talk while Ginny's clearly facing a tough dilemma(even if it is one of the stupidest-bloody-dilemmas I've ever read, and this is coming from a guy that watched Friday and screamed out "There's only one seat available!"), which is usually the worst time to make small talk with a close friend lest you risk them breaking down and making the whole situation worse for the both of you.
"Neither!" said canon!Hermione. "Have you gone mad?"To be fair to Draco and Snape, they both seemed like decent enough people to be good fathers
( ... )
On a rather macabre note, it always amused me, if in a rather fucked-up way, that Snape's mother, a prodigious witch, was apparently made the victim of domestic abuse by a muggle man. Sorta like Ron/Hermione in Last War, only...even more idiotic, considering that Ron was still a wizard in Last War.
There was probably a psychological component, which might have been what LoPEF was trying and epically failing to pull off. We didn't get Mrs Snape's POV like we did with Hermione so there was no chance to screw up the characterisation.
How DARE you suggest that Hermione consider anyone to father her children other than her True Love, Harry Hieronymus James Potter Esquire The Third Ph.D!
I am shamed by this suggestion, SIR, deeply shamed!
