On the plus side, at least it didn't involve leather contraptions.

Well, that seems to come from the other fanfic Neil drew from, "Mists of Time" by Nightfall. To quote chapter 1's infodump (oh for another full chapter of infodumping instead of what we're getting now):

Nearly one third of the wizard population in England had died due to the war and so it was declared by the members of the Order of the Phoenix that they should immediately seek out Voldemort and destroy him, no matter what the cost. Harry had fought for Ron and Hermione to stay behind, as he feared greatly for their safety. Hermione long suspected however that he looked upon the final battle between Voldemort and himself as a personal one, and he didn’t want to risk any others ( ... )

Bleh. Introduction of the Arthurian and Celtic mythos into Harry Potter would be pretty goddamn awesome, if they were written by the right kind of author.

I, myself, have thought about using a bit of Arthurian elements in a Harry Potter fanfic concept that I've been turning over in my head for awhile, about an American transplant to Britain attending Hogwarts with the Trio, a main character but he exudes a lot more Anti-Heroic traits than the other three(I've thought about possibly giving him a Horcrux as a means of establishing him as a He Who Fights Monsters type)...

I'd also use this fanfic series to try and flesh out America's wizarding community and maybe even give my character his own personal nemesis in the form of Fenrir Greyback...

I dunno, whaddyathink?

Well, there are a lot of pitfalls to writing a transfer student OC and a lot of people who'll assume him to be a Gary Stu even if you don't write him as one, but I'm sure you could make it work. The mythic elements too - JKR does it herself uses real mythological creatures in the Potterverse, so why not?

"Harry fell in love with Hermione long before she transformed into the lovely swan she is today and she loved him before he grew into a handsome wizard."

*projectile vomits*

"The kind of love they have will never die because of a few wrinkles or unwanted pounds."

Which is ironic considering that whole "hyperempath massages" that Caitlin(?) later suggests to give Hermione(which entails them being nude. But this is NOT SEXUAL AT ALL IN ANY FORM WHATSOEVER, if you ask Neil) to avoid her developing stretch marks. Hermione's uncomfortable with it(one of few flashes of her canon persona out there) but Harry insists on it because it would be "awesome if she could remain hot forever."

For the record, Otakukeith, I'm SickBritKid from TVTropes. Just putting that out there.

Ah yes, hyperempath massages. Last seen as an excuse for Snape to fondle Hermione's mutilated breasts for an hour. And yet again I find myself not quite believing what I just typed.

"I have a bad feeling about this."

Oh, don't worry, it's just a whole bunch of graphic torture and obvious-wanking material that makes me, a guy that's actually into some BDSM when in the mood, want to cut my own genitals off with a rusted spoon!

I hate this fic.

And, from the looks of it, that's become your Mantra throughout these sporkings, szaleniec.

It has indeed. I noticed I'd said it a few times so I just decided to run with it.

I'm doing my preliminary readthrough of Chapter 17 and getting an Agony in Pink vibe. This is not a good thing.

From what I remember of reading Hogwarts Exposed way back when, I don't remember it being as genuinely vile - at least in *that* way, the other, HE-exclusive kinds of vileness remain - as something like Agony in Pink. It remains too ineptly done to be truly horrific.

It's still incredibly unpleasant, though.

True. Part of what makes Agony in Pink so notorious is the fact that the horrific torture porn is meant to double as, well, porn porn. And the fact that (unlike HE) it was in serviceable English just made it creepier.
