So for my English class we just recently started reading the book Grendel. Now, granted, I have yet to begin reading this book we did have a very interesting background debate on the story today. Necessarily, I would not have taken the notes down that were on the board but as I started to read them I realized that I understood, and kind of ( Read more... )

i've met several athiests. it's really not all you might think it is. the few that i have met are just as confused about their religion, or lack thereof, as you and i are.
everyone doubts their religion. i stopped going to church deliberately from about 7-10 grade. i blamed it on cheerleading saying i never had time to go, but that wasn't it.
but i found my way, and i know what is right for me now.
you will too, and you'll figure out what you need and what is right for you.

and, as you know, my offer still stands. and you WILL come eventually.

Eh bree I got existentialist on the which philosophy are you quiz on my lj. It makes sense that it appeals to you to. Freedom is everything. Freedom to be ourselves. To feel, think and love as we please sits close at my heart. Anything which prevent me from becoming a tool or molded into another brick in the wall. I attempt to through my studies. Though I feel we're all connected and come from a single source I still have faith in the divinity of man. I guess lots of people have this confliction. My neibhor lady gave me a book yesterday on buddhism. I read through it a bit and made some stiking parallels between it and satanism because they both essentially follow the left handed path. God of our own divinity. I truly feel that in order for us to tap into our deeper potential we need to both confront our shadow and our atman. Open mind and open eyes is all we need. Yet there's the source from which we all came and shall inevitably return. This is the right handed path worshiping something greater then ourselves. I think I fall in the ( ... )

I love when you comment lol. It always gets my mind motivated. I did like Grendel, it dealt with a lot of situations symbolically that we as individuals go through daily. Fear, loneliness, the need of affection, death, our inner animal, war... etc. I think I will now have to take that quiz of yours on your lj. I would love to see how mine turns out. I can understand how you would get Existentialist as your answer for the quiz. I sometimes feel as if i live in fear of my religion. "Do not branch out or else..." But we were put on this earth to learn, to grow. Without branching out and learning new things from new experiences, how then can we find out what it is that we like and dislike? I will always be Catholic but I will not always agree with Catholic teachings. But thats life I guess. Conflicting harmony. As you said Freedom is everything.
- I hope everything is progressing well or at least as well as things could be in these types of situations. I'll keep you and your friends in my thoughts and prayers. Always

please share your results with me k. religion is a funny thing. I opened up a book yesterday called "what the buddha taught." The first chapter was very satisfying. It spoke of religion and seeking truth on a both intellectual and spiritual level. The buddha described his doctrine to a group of brahmins which made alot of sense when approaching any path, religion and/or faith ( ... )
