So for my English class we just recently started reading the book Grendel. Now, granted, I have yet to begin reading this book we did have a very interesting background debate on the story today. Necessarily, I would not have taken the notes down that were on the board but as I started to read them I realized that I understood, and kind of ( Read more... )

please share your results with me k. religion is a funny thing. I opened up a book yesterday called "what the buddha taught." The first chapter was very satisfying. It spoke of religion and seeking truth on a both intellectual and spiritual level. The buddha described his doctrine to a group of brahmins which made alot of sense when approaching any path, religion and/or faith.

"This alone is truth and everything else is false" (blind faith)

Simile: "If you cling to it, if you fondle it, if you treasure it, if you are attached to it, then you do not understand the the 'teaching' is similiar to a raft, which is for crossing over, and not for getting hold of and carrying on ones back"

I know you see where I'm getting at. The knowlege and wisdom gained quips us with the tools to better connect with the source. When we close our minds and our hearts we become savage because then we are no longer seeking truth but perpetuating belief in darkness. Bad stuff bappens when ideas become beliefs when they are done so blidly. The raft makes sense. The river is treacherous and will take us so far as we were to dive into the depths. But if we were to gather the leaves, sticks and mud to construct the raft to cross this rivers we can cross safely and continue with our journey. But after we reach the other side does it make sense for us to put the raft on our backs. No...it doesn't. It will only slow our journey. Abandon the raft and when the obstacle comes fourth again we gather the necessary tools to overcome it and move forward. This is why faith is so freakin dangerous. This is why caiaphas took out jesus because he sought to portect a belief brought into orthodoxy (article). You will always be catholic but that's not your identity. You are a spiritual being with an apetite for truth. There is a storm that constantly rages in the sea of our minds. But we go beneath the surface we find calm and peace. Whatever doctrine helps you to better connect with source is not evil and it's not really bad either. It just is. Perception is reality and and open mind is our most powerful weapon in our spiritual asenal.

-as far as me goes. I'm not snitching. I won't testisfy or sell anyone out for my own skin. my name is everything and I won't jeopardize my honor nor my rep. "Oh I've developed amnesia. memory going, going, gone...
