I got my braces, they hurt and are way annoying.  Plus side, food is harder to eat, so I eat slowly and will probably lose some lbs.  
What was I thinking?  I guess I thought that they wouldn't hurt.  I didn't put thought into what they would feel like, I just thought okay, something in my mouth for a year plus and then Iwill have a gorgeous

least its not six years and some "space matiance" plus two of a retainer weee...

i got my full set i think when i was in 5th grade and got them all off the fall of my senir year of highschool ... also about the time i was finally allowed to get contacts.... can you say nerd... anyway its not so bad.. getting use to them and the tiny cuts is the worst but after a week or so they wont be painful ... and beeswax takes care of the corners... or did you get porcelin ones... i hear they are less "sharp"

good luck with them .. a year will go by quickly and is a small price time wise to pay ...

needless to say ... all the time in braces and the money my parents shelled out ... my mouth is worth a small fortune ... there will be no tongue or lip piercing ... no way in hell id play with them and chip something =)

Yikes! Six years! OMG. That's a long long time. I hope I am in them no longer than 18 months, plus retainers. They've stopped hurting for the most part, and are just an annoyance at this point. I don't think they'll hurt again till I get a new wire on in 9 weeks.
