Let's get the dates out the way first: the next auction will be starting sign ups on Friday 20th March with the auction itself running 28th to the 31st.

And here's the part you saw coming: this is SC's final auction.

I was going to post some of the reasoning behind it, but it started to turn into "This Is Your Life". Too long; didn't write. I sum up.

The size of the auction has increased while my ability to run it, for a variety of reasons, has decreased. That's basically where it begins and ends. There are measures I could take - one auction a year, removing pinch hitting - but both of those bring other problems right along with them and it comes to a point where it's better to end but end well.

I did think about handing the project on if anyone wanted to take over but, I'm sorry, I can't. As many will know, this was begun in memory of a friend and passing it on isn't something I can bring myself to do. What I am more than happy to do is make the code available by the end of the year and help set it up if anyone/s would like to take a stab at running a fundraiser auction in this fashion.

Or the Livejournal comms have us covered - the are alternative auction fundraisers popping up all over now and that's a beautiful thing.

So, this this been an amazing experience. March will make eight auctions over four years, with an extraordinary amount of dedication, generosity and kindness from everyone taking part - including our PCoD fairies, who have been beyond wonderful. All told, you've raised over $70,000 and we've gone from having just twenty-five people selling their (wicked mad) skillz in the first auction to over two-hundred in some.

Man, you killed a server with awesome. That kind of win just doesn't go away, is all I'm saying.

For me, this has become an incredible example of humanity, let alone fandom, and it's been a honour. Thank you, so much.

I hope we can make the last auction as amazing as its predecessors.

There may be questions asked because I am not well known for my total coverage of a situation (*facepalm*), so I'll just put any up here as well so that you can see them.

I'll start us off, though:

What about pinch-hits?
I will continue trying to make good on those to the best of my ability but for the last auction, as I have for all the others, I suggest you do not take part if a goodie not being delivered on will upset you.
