right there with you on the bed-time thing. me, too. my kids are in bed, lights out at 8:30 (unless we're on vacation, then it's 9:00). i hate when i put the kids to bed, and head out to wally world at 9 or 9:30, and see kids there who should be home in bed. as a teacher, i am always in shock when kids tell me how late they stay up. ugh!!
I don't understand the parents who let their kids stay up late. Most of them watching shows that weren't meant for kids in their beds (they need tv to fall asleep *eye roll*, going out for the late night wally world run. I have seen kids there after midnight, it's horrible.
Then, of course, they wonder why the kid is doing badly in school (must be the teachers, right?) or cranky and not getting up in the morning.
Even if kids didn't need as much sleep as they do I still need my alone time to relax before bed.
