It's warm today, so all my windows are open. Which is nice and fine except it means the voice of the little boy next door shoots straight into my house. This kid, whether screaming from joy (or the much more common whiny screaming), is like nails on a chalkboard. Really. So much so that when last time I got back from Austin and I saw a SOLD

Here's a picture from a pier near fisherman's wharf--it's a naval "museum" that Crystal and I checked out on her visit. You can see Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
One section of Yosemite has redwoods. Here's one that fell over a few hundred years back. Due to the high amount of tannin in the wood, they don't really rot (or at least they rot very, very, very slowly). The tannin is also what gives them their color and keeps them from burning when there are forest fires

I am a lazy blogger. I am going to try to be better in the New Year, though that is not one of my resolutions. My two resolutions are to be healthier and to be more productive. Of course, there are many sub-resolutions under those, but if I think of the big list it feels too overwhelming. I'm trying to tackle them bit by bit
