A seemingly abandoned house on Godiva Street, Tuesday Morning

Jul 24, 2012 17:12

Since yesterday's meeting, Kate had spent the majority of the rest of the day informing everyone she could about the plan to take Detention on Saturday. And at the end of the day, she'd fallen into a bed that had seen better days in this house that had worked as a hideout for a few days now. Maybe if they were lucky, they'd manage to stay still ( Read more... )

Oh, Luke had heard but he didn't acknowledge it as he wandered around the house. Not only did it seem impolite, but Luke was so stuck in his own brooding that he didn't really have the inclination to worry about someone else's. Even if they were singing about it for the world to hear.

He knew he had some pretty dark thoughts about Kate's whole matter anyway, so he just hoped he could keep his mouth shut. He was humming as he went along and he hoped the island was satisfied with that.

Kate didn't have high hopes for that.

But she emerged from behind her closed door some moments later, anyway. Still red-eyed and sort of sniffling, but if he didn't draw attention to it, she wasn't going to, either.

"Morning."

Luke hummed again, but this one was more of an acknowledgement than some wordless tune. He offered Kate the cup of coffee he had made for himself. He could always grab another. He had plenty of (slightly damp) supplies after yesterday.

Rubbing at her eye with one hand, Kate took the cup, grateful. "Thanks."

Some steallr conversation, right here. She took a sip, hoping the caffeine would sort her out a little bit. Maybe she'd even manage more than one or two syllables at a time in a moment!

"Z'there bacon?" Ace yawned from the top of the basement steps long after any music had ceased -- for the moment, anyway.

That was Ace for Good Morning -- and there had been bacon yesterday, toasted limply over a Sterno can, so it wasn't an unreasonable question.

None of their mornings were good, so that greeting works as well as anything.

"Don't know," Kate said. "Maybe, if Luke found some."

Ace took that in for a moment before rubbing her eyes and asking the even more important question. "Coffee? I can function without bacon, but god help us all if we're out of caffeine."

Kate nodded towards the supplies. "That I know we have." Though she herself couldn't muster up quite as much enthusiasm for it as she would have in the past. "Help yourself, Ace."
