[Gem is sitting outside, holding an umbrella over herself as shade. She is attempting to get used to the sun; she still finds it strange, but it seems here to stay so she will adapt.
Looking at the journal, she purses her lips, and finally speaks]Many people seem curious or confused as to what I am. I thought perhaps I should explain to all; I am

I've never seen a program capable of thought like you are demonstrating. You look almost human as well, no one would think you were bits of data. Is it common for programs to leave the system in your world?

[At his other question, she takes a moment to write more. There is a welling up of emotion in her, and she must keep herself in check not to write something out of bitterness.]
No, it is not. Besides the Program who is here, as well, I know of no other Programs that have left.

[Not too fond of the sun, huh]
Are you still made of circuits while in this world?

Yes I am.
I can show you if you would allow this to go to video?

[Alexei will keep responding back to her in written format though. He's wary of speaking over the journal.]

Thank you. You're not the least bit troubled by my questioning? I worry I might be asking a bit too much about yourself.

I am not. If I become so, I simply will chose to not answer the question.
This is...freeing, in a way. To be away from the constrictions of The Grid.

[Alexei leans back slightly]
Do you happen to have a name?
Reply
[She isn't annoyed at him, but the situation.]
Gem. My name is Gem.

I'm somewhat perplex to see you can still function outside the system. What energy source is keeping you from, for lack of a better term, "shutting down"?

[A smirk and a play in turn.]
We re-charge. It's the same as sleeping.
