On Saturday I was bored and feeling depressed, so I made the mistake of reactivating my OK Cupid account. After about 10 minutes I was ready bored with OKC, but OKC has a stupid policy where you must wait a period of one week to deactivate your account if you have just reactivated it. OKC has no idea of the bullshit women go through on that site ( Read more... )

Guys on dating sites are almost ALWAYS terrible. There is so few good ones. Serious. I met some rad friends on POF but no one worth dating, except one girl :)

Luckily the stupid waiting period was over so I was able to deactivate my profile after I wrote this entry.

I don't want to meet friends on those sites. I have plenty of friends, and I seem to make a few more friends every year, whether at school, online (LJ), or elsewhere. Is it unreasonable to want to be more than "just friends" with another human being?! ARGH ARGH ARGH!

I didn't want to meet friends either, but I did. A couple of really good ones, too.

I have plenty of friends. Yet out of all my friends, not one knows of anyone who's available to date (and is someone I would get along with), or is willing to set me up. Ugh.

The cybering guy? He was a douche, yes. But at least he was up-front about it, he gets points for that.

No, no points for that. To email me with such a disgusting suggestion...UGH. HOW FUCKING DARE HE! If he wants to "cyber" and wants some girl to send him free photos of her cunt, he can find some STD-riddled whore, or PAY for it. UGH. The very idea SICKENS me.

And this is why I am in a pissy mood!

Is that different than a guy who is looking for a one-night stand or a long term FWB situation? (Not a rhetorical question).. it seems like you would react differently if the guy actually wanted to meet...

to me the only difference is that guy wants digital 'sex' instead of real sex.

Yes. And even if he wanted to meet, I would be just as disgusted if he asked for photos or suggested web cam crap.

How fucking DARE he ask me to SEND NUDE PHOTOS OF MYSELF TO HIM?! WHAT THE HELL?

1. I'm not getting paid for it. Why would I do it for FREE?
2. I don't let just any loser see my body. Seeing my body is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT.

actually to answer what you said... I DO see your point and it's a totally valid POV...

I'm just saying that lower on the scale of male idiocy and rudeness is when they PRETEND they're really interested or might want to hook up IRL, but then things devolve and really they'll be happy with phone sex or cyber... and they try to sneak you into it...

Which is where I say at least he gets points for revealing his intent right off the bat (no pun intended) so that you can go EWW before wasting any further time on him.

Nope, still no points. You only get points for being honest if you're not a disgusting creep.

I agree. You've seen some of the "emails" I've received, even in reply to "strictly platonic" ads! I mean, seriously... yes, I get that there are creeps out there, and I can't control who reads or responds to my stuff. But you'd think that people wouldn't be such creeps! (like the guy who wanted me to "edit spelling and grammar" in a blurb that sounded like it was straight out of PENTHOUSE magazine... um, NO!)

Ha ha ha. So he wanted you to read some disgusting porn and "edit" it? LOL.

I think I agree. My luck with OKC has been zip... mind I'm not sure I'm all that date-able at the moment and haven't been for a while.
I'm working on that.

Actually, the odd thing for me is it keeps listing friends that wouldn't go out with me in ten thousand years...

a lot of people on OKC could disappear and the world wouldn't be any worse of a place, IMHO. People need more manners.
