My car got stolen

Oct 01, 2008 06:41

I have played enough video games to know that a theif should consider three important categories when selecting perspective automobiles: armor, speed, and sexiness. Why, then, would anyone want to take my car? You have to turn off the AC to reach freeway speeds, the worn red paint doesn't exactly say "come hither," and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't ( Read more... )

Maybe it was your Secret Stalking Admirer. What better memento of the one you're obsessed with than "his car"?

In all seriousness, that sucks, and I'm sorry this happened to you.

F*ckers.

I like the theory of the "Secret Stalker."
I myself am trying to create scenarios in which this somehow gets me involved in some kind of international conspiracy-- preferably something involving robots and/or zombies.
Maybe the turncoat Terra Arcanum agent had to swipe my car in order to escape his pursuers. Later, he will ditch the car and be caught, but not before stashing the secret plans beneath the ugly red seat cover, where they will remain undiscovered until I sit on them and say "hey, how come there's a THIRD uncomfortable lump in this seat?"

I like the way you think.

You are a much better man than I. At this point, I'd be renting a jalopy and combing the streets of Supersechville with a bezbol bat, looking to find my ride, and hoping to lay a sucka out with justice carved from Louisville.

Bucket. Of. Suck. :(

I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I can only imagine the feelings of outrage, violation and frustration at the discovery of this randomly stupid crime. :(

Actually, it really isn't bad. I'm pretty sure the cash value of my car is less than that of my laptop and probably also less than my ipod (neither of which were in the car). Violence (or even the threat of violence) would be bad, but I'm kind of feeling "easy come, easy go" right now. I think I might miss the frisbees in the trunk more than the car itself.

Maybe they saw something in the car that they thought was a laptop or iPod. That might be why they stole it.

Oh Crap, Man. That's just wrong. Let's hope your conspiracy theories are correct. Taking out your frustrations on zombies or robots would be the ticket.

Trying to think of consoling words, the best I can come up with is at least it didn't catch fire on the freeway. Although at this point perhaps I should hope it does, that would be sorta poetic.

Thinking happy thoughts for you.

Not sure whether this would be good news or bad news, but I have it on good authority that most stolen cars are recovered in a few days. At least the last time I checked that was true.

That's what the sherrif told me when I was filling out the report, too-- most cars are found in two or three days, and the whole chop-shop thing is pretty rare in our area. So it might even be back to business as usuall for me by next week.

Well I'm glad we're keeping our stories straight.

And just to be specific, something like 80% of our stolen cars were recovered within three days. I haven't checked the numbers lately.

If it gets recovered in Tukwila, I'll buy you a Coke. :)

If this were front page news (and why shouldn't it?) I'd hope the headline would read:

"Ubelievably Sad and Shockingly Stupid Car Robbery"

I can only imagine your stunned disbelief. I know it would have taken me a while to come to grips with the cognitive dissonance. Thank goodness you had nothing of value in there.

Hopefully your car was just taken for a joy ride will be recovered in one piece. I'd hate for you to be inconvenienced for long because of their stupidity.
