I had problems with the ep, but I've had problems with all of them. There are things I *hated* about this ep. There were several scenes that made me smile, but Dean dancing will forever be part of canon for me now. I loved it, it inspired thinky-thoughts about their childhood and what it is that Dean actually likes and what kind of person he'd be *without* hunting. He's really so much softer inside than he's ever been able to express.
It gave me laughs all through the ep so that was enough for me this time. I feel like if I'm too strict, I might not have even one "awesome" and that would be really sad. I love what you took away from the tap dancing scene. I just love watching people tap dance and it was a real treat to watch Dean/Jensen<3
It is hard not to let opinions sway us, isn't it. I always write my review before reading others, so it can be my first impression. I did feel that blowing up the whole joint was inhumane, but considering the alternative of fighting them all, I can see sense in it too.
I didn't completely get the point of the monster fight set to the classical music, but I think it has something to do with the entire point of the episode. All the music (except Garth's werewolf song) was different and to me it kind of highlighted that this isn't the usual type of ep as with this music it tended to make the ep more a drama show than SPN. And I see how the boys in the ep can be seen more as drama characters, but I still don't get the monster fight. :P
If you think of other shows and movies where classical music is used for fight scenes - I can remember hearing it in gangster gun fights and slomo fistfights - really brutal ones where the whole gang is wiped out or one of the fighters, if there are only two, just doesn't stand a chance

At least, that was my take-away! :D
