Sorry, but I just found this episode very frustrating...I spent it yelling at my TV "Just kill him already!" because, much as I love Donatello, he would have been sacrificable just to get rid of Nick before he causes more trouble.
And I really don't understand why it bothered Mary how Jack killed Nick, Jack just shoved Lucifer back into the Empty and saved the world from having to deal with Luci again.
They gave Mary those lovely 'I love you' speeches to her boys so I am betting that she is toast.
I agree that Jack did the world a service by ending Nick and shoving Lucifer back into the Empty, even if it was a brutal way to kill him. Mary should have left Jack alone instead of keeping on at him, I hate to think that he's killed her, as this might send him down a dark path that they were all trying to avoid.
You know, I just realized the writers probably made Nicks death that severe because he needed that proper send off considering everyone just wants him dead already. LOL
Yeah, seems they gave a send off to Mary as well. I'm glad.
This didn't get an awesome from me because I really wanted to see them having even a few minutes of their game night - I felt cheated! But seeing Dean trying to sey up Mousetrap was fun, I remember getting very frustrated doing that!
I was sure at one point that Lucifer was going to be back and I'm pleased this didn't happen, but I'm also worried that Jack might now be going down a dark path, especially if he did kill Mary, even accidentally. I hope Chuck intervenes and gives the poor lad back his soul. I liked the scenes with Cas and Anael, she's an interesting character and I hope we see more of her.
Dean trying to keep Sam conscious was such a sad scene, both J's were brilliant here and I swear Jensen's eyes looked even bigger than usual! Thank goodness Jack could save Sam, he still cares about his 'dads'.
I wanted to see some of their game night too!! Honestly, I would have been very happy with 42 minutes of them playing games and laughing and bickering, lol.
I agree. There is a lot I've loved in this season, but it has been pretty relentlessly dramatic. We got those two comedy episodes near the beginning and that's it except for humor sprinkled in the episodes. Which is great! But I miss the overall lighter episodes.
This one was tough for me. I try not to get too wound up about plot decisions, but I hate this Jack's soul being burned up plotline quite a lot. I don't really mind him killing Nick either (and preventing Lucifer coming back, PHEW - for a second there I thought Lucifer was somehow going to possess Jack and was freaking out), but it was tough to see him act so brutally. And I will REALLY hate it if they've killed Mary, ughhhhh. They've never known what to do with her character but I just don't want her to re-die and have to see the boys go through that. :(
That said, I still gave this episode a Good because there was a lot I liked. Castiel and Anael were great (I LOVE her) and the Dean and Sam feels when Sam was hurt was amazing. Although I admit I had to laugh a little, it was like they suddenly stepped into a world where normal first aid rules apply. Sam especially gets knocked on the head, like, almost every week. Rendered unconscious in one blow. And now of a sudden Dean's worried and "I don't even want to move him"?! XD It kind

If Jack's soul is gone, and that seems likely now - not because of what Jack did but Cas's admission - I still can't see Jack as being anything close to being void of emotion. He's volatile, yes and definitely not in control. Seems like a normal teen plus super powers. This grace, soul thing is super confusing. Either the writers don't know what they are doing at all or there is something none of the characters realize yet. Cas and Anael (and other angels) have the ability to feel right and wrong and they don't have souls either. They have grace. When Cas lost his grace he didn't have either soul or grace. But he still had morals and emotion. He didn't become like Donatello. So, it seems to me that for angels atleast, whether they have grace or soul or both doesn't influence them the same way. Of course, Jack is part human so it makes sense that part of him might react to that the same way as a human
