Well it started with trying to make cakes for a girl whose last day at work it was today. Totally misjudged time and frantically tried to finish them and clear up terrible making mess before work. Was pleased to finish work at 10:20pm and was so excited at the prospect of returning home before midnight in my hurry I fell down the escalator and landed on my thumb. Really hurt and blood everywhere. Was cleaned up by kind station staff and large bandage put on it.. Problem is difficult to work in food preparation with a hand you can't put in ( Read more... )

Today I spoke to the manager about the 24 days holiday written in my contract. I told him British law requires 28. He said this is not true. Please tell me if I'm mad. This is true isn't it!?  And if I sign the contract with 24 days written in it, have I signed away my legal right to 28 so when I shop them in later I have no leg to stand on? Today worked from 11:30am to 11:30pm, but wasn't let go until after 11:40pm, even though finished work earlier so didn't get home till after 12:30 and legs still killing me, despite taking long soaky bath and lying in bed.
