this was really interesting! It's cute to know that Ryo-chan takes so much time to think about and act out his part as best as he can. Although, honestly, to me Sosuke seems not so gentle all the time lol. Maybe that's because he's always around Michiru...
I really admire him for taking the role so seriously. It's an important role, I think, and needs such attention.
there are some moments he's gentle, aren't there!! in the first ep, up until the whole cellphone thing. and when he called her while preparing dinner. it's also probably meant, as you mentioned, outside of the house, like in his job and such. they just don't show it that much, do they -_-
i'm really hoping they get more into his character throughout the drama. they seem to be focusing mostly on Michiru and Ruka, which is OK I guess since they're the main characters of the story, but they're also over-ignoring the other characters. at least, they have until now. we'll see how things turn out in the future ^_^
i think i drifted off a little ^_^;; yes i agree on that he's admirable for taking this role seriously and that he understands how important it is.
Thanks for translating this. I like reading about Ryo's opinions and I love that it went a bit in depth while talking about his character on Last Friends.
of course it's got nothing to do with Ryo-chan, right, but it's so weird watching him in such a serious role and then 5 minutes after the ep has ended go off to watch him in the SUMMER TIME PV!! XD
yes, it's always interesting to know the actor's take on the role they're playing. no scratch the "always" part, sometimes it's boring XD but in this case it's interesting ^_^ it depends on the role and story really ^_^
I know right, its very weird. But it definitely shows that he has broadened his acting ability to something that maybe a bit taboo to some people and then right after go around looking cute and sweet. :D
Luckily this role was interesting so that when he does talk about the topic it seems a bit more interesting.
i liked how ryo looks into the character of Souske.... i really feel there is an underlying reason behind the violence like any other human behavior....
yes, me too. i hope they reveal more of Sosuke's character in future eps, and not just use him as a means for Michiru's unhappiness. well, Sosuke's as well as the other characters. maybe they're going a little too slow on the other characters' stories *shrug* we'll see where next ep goes ^_^
I think it's amazing that he's done the research - I'm really really impressed. It's a difficult are and ppl often avoid subjects like that. I've worked with DV victims so I'm often biased towards them but it is true that in some cases (not all) the defendant is suffering too and it's problem rather than it just being a bad thing.
He's actually really scary in Last Friends, with the whole stalkerish obsession. Though, I felt that the screeenplay was not well written - Ryo plays his right to the letter, but the way it's written, you don't get enough of the "happy" normal moments to make their relationship believable. Michiru keeps saying how precious he is to her and how gentle he is etc etc. which is fine, it's just the screenplay doesn't display a lot of those moments and it actually makes her story quite hard to believe...But again that's not Ryo's fault.
Thanks a bunch for the translation and the hard work! ^.^b
yeah exactly what i was replying to another comment. they're focusing too much on certain aspects and omitting important things, or maybe just giving them little attention. i hope we see a little more of Sosuke's background, as well as the other characters', in future episodes ^_^
maybe you can kind of tell Sosuke is also suffering in the first episode when he realizes what he's done and asks Michiru for forgiveness. Also, in the 3rd ep when he asked her who was more important him or her customers. he almost looked like he was softening. same thing happened in the last scene, until Michiru said those 2 words. it's like he thinks thru his actions, but for some reason he always goes out of control.
may I ask what you do? since you mentioned you've worked with DV victims.
I am a volunteer in Courts so sometimes come into contact with DV victims in DV cases. It's a very strange situation to be in sometimes as I'm giving emotional and practical support to women (and men on rare occasions), sometimes confused themselves, providing evidence against their husband/partners
( ... )
one of the first comments i read after ep 2 aired was, "i can't believe she went back to him", and smn replied to that, "this is a drama. of course she'd do that".
i guess people haven't really understood quite how much this is more than just a simple drama. they fangirl over certain actors and/or actresses, and criticize others, and it stops there.
wow you're amazing to be volunteering like that *admiration* it must be hard to give moral support for people in general. and it must feel scary and frustrating when you see their situations not changing.
