I'm opposed to single-click unlocking because of how incredibly easy it is for someone to mis-click something. However, I love the idea of the security icon loading a page or menu to edit the security.

I'm not a big fan of this; how often does someone really need to edit the security of a post? Also, this wouldn't work for people with styles that don't display the icons but I suppose that's their issue.

There are some people who post entries as Private to make sure that it looks perfect before editing the security to show them to others. Or, when I'm posting from mobile, and I need to make absolutely sure that an entry is filtered to people who really do want to see it (and not visible to those who asked not to be on that filter), I have to post as Private first (because the quick posting page from the old version of the Mobile site doesn't have the option to post to a custom friends group), and then edit the entry later to fix the security. While the original suggestion wouldn't be very useful for that, Azz's modification would definitely be more convenient for it.

The greying out of that option is due to the default security setting for your whole journal, not the security of your last entry.

I think with a single click, it would be too easy to make a mistake. However, it would be a good idea to have this somehow linked to the icon, like say, have it go to a pop up menu or to another page where you could do that.

Similarly, it would then be nice to have a "public" security icon which one could use to lock stuff.
