Short, concise description of the idea
Being able to upload CSS sheets to scrapbook for our lj layouts

Full description of the ideaAt the moment, if we want to upload CSS style sheets (especially those with more than 16000 characters I think) we need to sign up to a web server and upload it - and those web servers might ( Read more... )

On the one hand, scrapbook isn't really a general file storage service--on the other hand, a place to put large LJ-specific stylesheets would be awesome. (My foot, however, would like to note that any external server as prone to crash as you seem to worry about isn't worth the money you're paying for it.)

Ah, that's usually 'cause the problems occured with FREE web servers which I didn't pay for XD

And huge stylesheets would cause woe for the people having to load them, if on a slow connection.

It's still a good idea: separate stylesheets can be cached by browsers (and proxies); embedded CSS has to be loaded in its entirety for every LJ page view.

I kept my CSS on my own server for a fair while, but the ludicrously short http fetch timeout (and external stylesheet cache time at LJ) defeated that after the CSS security proxy was introduced. Got so I had to hard refresh several times to get the CSS, what with transatlantic hop delays.
