No thanks--I choose my site scheme because it's the site scheme I want to view. I'd rather not have it change willy nilly as I view different profiles. If I want to know who likes what site scheme, I can ask them.

No, thank you. I hate it so much when my layout gets changed on me without notice, even if it's one page.

Hm, I for one think that I should be able to see LJ the way I prefer it, not that others should force their preferred look on me. Of course, this is really a question that can't be decided in a way that makes everyone happy ( ... )

Agreed. I'm all for people seeing LJ the way they want to, but I dislike having others' preferences imposed on me.

I disagree with this suggestion. The whole point of the site scheme is that we choose which one we want to see globally on all site pages. I don't really care what site scheme an individual user prefers, and I don't think most users do either.

It is, in some ways, a good question whether the profile should be a "site scheme" page or a customizable one like the journal itself, but if it is going to be a "site scheme" page, I think LJ should keep things consistent, otherwise it will be confusing.

No. Include a 'best viewed in' notice for the profile, sure. Add a profile element showing what site scheme the user uses, sure. Add a quick, URL-argument-based way to quickly toggle back and forth and view a page in any given site scheme, sure.

However, any page that is viewed in a site scheme and can't be overridden by the viewer's site scheme of choice is unfriendly to viewers, and exceptionally unfriendly to viewers who use a particular site scheme out of necessity rather than preference. I would not want to have to provide support for an annoyed group of users with screen readers who get hung up on profiles that are suddenly cropping up in a different site scheme.

My mobile browser is only happy with Lynx. It throws a fit when forced to display any of the other site schemes.

I like your "Best viewed in
" idea. =)

Agreed.

Best viewed in [a href="...?usescheme=foo]foo[/a]".

Problem solved!
