Ficlet: Holiday Travel (Clex, G)
Title: Holiday Travel
Pairings: Clex, Jonathon/Martha
Warnings/Spoilers: Pilot. Set in some world where Clark and Lex get married and all is well
Author's Notes: I've had a bit of trouble completing comment!fics lately. This was written in response to a comment made many days ago by nonotthatone about holiday travel = nightmare.
Summary: The Kent family (Lex included) go avisiting for Thanksgiving.
His first Thanksgiving as part of the family. Lex began the day anticipatory. Clark gets excited about all holidays and he's been regaling Lex with tales about feasts and family traditions. Lex has a lot to which he can look forward.
He thinks he's ready for it. He's convinced Jonathon to take the truck he bought for Clark, since it had room for the four of them. Their pies are safely stowed away in the bed of the truck and Lex and Clark sit on the bench behind Jonathon and Martha.
All is well until the truck is actually moving. Lex winces as Jonathon misses a gear. He cringes a little at the way the man drives down the rural roads, but that's nothing compared to being on the freeway with Jonathon Kent at the wheel.
Eventually, Clark gives up words in his attempts to keep Lex calm. He pulls Lex into his arms, turns his face so that he can't see anything but Clark's neck, and starts singing the Twelve Days of Christmas. As distractions go, it's not great, but Lex eventually calms down when he can't see traffic passing them by as they drift down the freeway at a sedate fifty miles an hour.
Two days later, on the way home, no one argues when Lex asks for the keys and volunteers to drive. He's amused to catch sight of his in-laws curled together in the back, Jonathon's face hidden against Martha's shoulders as she hums "It's a Wonderful Life."
