Over in newyorkers, futurebird has encountered her first flying NYC roach. May God have mercy on her soul/apartment. People comment with similar horror stories and reassurance.

The OP did cop a 'tude first, kind of.

The only time I have ever delt with roaches was when I lived down south and I was renting from "intresting" white people. And those bugs were large, and memorable.

But it wasn't an attitude - it was the kind of playful, "Oh, shut up" you give to friends who are going on about how great they have it when you're a little less fortunate - it wasn't serious.
