I can understand why you hate it (I'm the same with "guesstimate", god, I hate that fucking word), but it's really just about as "fake" as any other word. "Sammich" isn't lexically empty -- it has a mutually-understood meaning, usage rules, etc., just like its more well-established cousins. Consider that quite a few of the words we use today are slurred/abbreviated versions of older words, like fancy (from fantasy) and hussy (from huswif (housewife)).

Number two: Holy jesus fuck, do I hate "guesstimate". Why...why did they come up with it? An estimate is an educated guess. It's so fucking redundant to mash the two together and strikes me as a dumbing down of the word.
